Rheumatoid arthritis may in-
volve any of the joints, but most
usually it affects hands, wrists,
feet, elbows and knees. The onset
of the disease may be sudden, but
usually it develops slowly. Not
only do the joints become
swollen, stiff, warm and painful,
but the patient feels tired and ill.
He may run a slight fever, lose
weight and become anaemic. The
disease affects the body as a
whole.
