Mrs. Eileen Parker on Sunday
received word that Rick Lewis,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Dick Lewis of
Thunder Bay had been accident-
ally killed in a pulp mill there. His
mother, Mrs. Lewis, was the
former Betty Parker, who will be
remembered by older folks of the
community: Sympathy is extend-
,d.tlffrom the community.
Mrs. Eileen Parker is flying to
Thunder Bay.
Mrs. Ivan Laidlaw on Saturday
attended the 4-H Achievement
Day at Teeswater.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Snowden and
Billie Jr. of Goderich visited
Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Joe
Tiffin and Joey and their grand-
mother Mrs. Orville Tiffin.
Weekend visitors with Mr. and
Mrs. Bill Purdon were Mr. and
Mrs. Donald Gaunt and Jennifer
of Chatham 'and Barbara Purdon
of Kitchener.

John de Boer last week had the
misfortune to have a bone broken
in his ankle while working -with a
cow which necessitated having a
cast put on. The comrnunity
wishes him a speedy recovery.

Mrs, Janette Wardrop presided
for the opening hymn sing. Mrs.
Milian Moore gave words of
welcome to Bluevale, Auburn,
Calvin Brick U.C.W. societies and
to Chalmers' Whitechurch W.M.
S. and their own, group. The call
to worship was given by Mrs. -
Lorne Durnin. The scripture and
meditation were given by Mrs.
Millan Moore, who also led in
prayer.
The Auburn group represented
by Mrs. Ruth Jardine and Mrs.
Lois Haines sang a duet accom-
panied by pianist Mrs. _ Ken
"McDougall. The offering was
received by Mrs. Dave Gibb and
Mrs. Fred Tiffin and dedicated by
Mrs. Lorne Durnin.
Rev. Wilena Brown introduced
the guest speaker, Rev. Michael
Bolger of Monkton. Rev. Bolger
is a teacher and Missionary.
During his years as Missionary
teacher he had met Rev. Donald
Watt and he said Rev. Watt had
two sisters living around White-
church who were present at the
meeting.
Rev. Bolger was thanked by
Mrs. Muriel Thompson and
presented with a gift. Rev.
Wilena Brown closed the meeting
with prayer. A social, "time with
lunch was enjoyed.

ZIPPY TRINETTES
The second meeting of the
Zippy Trinettes garden club was
held May 2 at Mrs. C. Wilkins'
hone.
Mrs. Wilkins discussed prepar-
ing soil, growing young plants for
transplanting and planting the
garden. Mrs. Hackett discussed
succession of crops, looking after
• garden and planting 'arid care of
flowers.
Everyone is supposed to have
their garden planted for the next
meeting.

Broome, R. R. 7 Lucknow, visited
with them on April 30 to celebrate
their granddaughters' April birth-
days; Diane was five, Pam was
seven and Carrie was one.
