HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe Lucknow Sentinel, 1978-05-10, Page 224 Page 22--Lucknow Sentinel, Wednesday, May 10, 1978 DOUGLAS-BUSHELL The marriage of Marilyn Bush- ell and Derrick Douglas, both of London, took place in St. And- rew's Presbyterian Church, Wingham, on Friday, April 7, 1978 at seven o'clock. The candlelight ceremony was solemnized by Rev. R. H. Armstrong amid a setting of yellow mums and white daisies surrounding the candelabra which contained lighted yellow tapers:Mrs. Don Robertson played traditional and, contem- porary music, including two favourite songs of the couple, "The Wedding" and "You Light Up My Life". Parents of the bride are Mr. , and Mrs. Morley Bushell, Wing - ham. The groom is the son of Mrs. Betty Douglas, London and the late Mr. Douglas. 4Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a floor length gown of white crystalette over taffeta., French lace accented a sheer yoke, the daintlystand-up collar and the cuffs of the dress. A double tiered self attached cape fell from the yoke. The back of the gown lengthened into a short train. Her headpiece was a wide - brimmed hat of crystalette. Two crystalette flowers and ties ador- ned the back of the hat. She carried, a bouquet of cascading yellow sweetheart roses and stephanotis. Floor length gowns of sky blue, with matching chiffon capes were worn by three. bridal attendants. Margaret Bushell .,of Goderich was her sister's maid of honour and bridesmaids were the bride's sister-in-law, Lori Bushell of Mississauga and a friend, Mary Lou Davis of London. The attendants carried baskets of white daisies and yellow mums. Dave Douglas of Sprague, Manitoba, twin brother of the groom, was best man and guests were ushered by the bride's brothers, John Bushell of Missis- sauga and Blair Bushell of Wingham. The male members of the wedding party wore navy tuxedos trimmed with velvet, white ruffled shirts, navy bow ties and yellow mums boutonnieres. The bride's' mother wore a gown of dusty rose with accordian pleated skirt and self attached cape. The groom's mother chose a pale pink floor length gown with accordian pleated skirt and a cowl neckline. Both wore corsages of pink sweetheart roses. An honoured guest at the wedding was the bride's maternal grandmother, Mrs. John. Barr of Kinlough, who wore a gown of taupe figured jersey with ,a. corsage of coral roses. The Nite Lites provided music for -the reception which followed in the Wingham Legion Hall. The head table was centred with the bridal cake which was decorated with blue and white daisies. A small glass vase also adorned the cake which had also decorated the bridal cakes of the bride's mother 27 years ago and the bride's maternal grandmother 50 years ago. It held small blue flowers matching the other decciration on the cake. , For travelling the bride chose a powder blue street length dress with accordian pleated skirt, cap sleeves and a mandarin collar. Her corsage was pink sweetheart roses. Following a two week honeymoon in Acapulco, Mexico, Mr. and Mrs. Douglas will reside in London, Ontario.
