HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe Lucknow Sentinel, 1978-05-10, Page 16e 16- Lack now Sentinel, Wednesday, May 10 1978 • The members of the Lucknow Conceit Band under the direction of Gord Cayley will be presenting their annual Band Concert at the Lucknow Arena this Saturday evening at 8A5 p.m. It is an event that is looked forward to in the spring as its popularity grows each year. Originally, the concert was presented hi the school auditorium at Lucknow Central Public but the concert has been presented at the arena for the last five years Johnston Bros. (Bothwell Ltd.) Dungannon, Ontario Sand, Gravel, Crushed Stone Cement Gravel and Road Contractors Picked Up and Delivered Open Daily 7 a.m. - 5 p.m. Phone: Dungannon 529-7947 because of the large turn out. Some of the band members have been with the band for five or six years and the excellent musicianship of the band is well known throughout this area. A special presentation by the Lucknow Junior Concert Band will highlight the concert. Langside News BY LILLIAN YOUNG The northern lights put on' quite a .display last Monday evening, May lst. ' Wonder how many saw them. It's not very oftenthey are seen so late in the spring. Mr. and Mrs. Simon de Boer . and twin daughters, Sarah 'and Miriam of Guelph, visited last Wednesday with his mother, Mrs. Reuly de Boer and family. They plan to move here at the end of the month and will be living in the house across from the de Boer farm on the former Robert Stewart farm. Wesley Young of Lucknow visited Friday with Mr., and Mrs. Clifford' Young. Several ladies from Langside attended the tupperware party Tuesday evening at the home of Mrs. Len Coughlin on the 14th of Culross. Mrs. Joan Dow of Tara was demonstrator. Marty Young spent the week- end with his grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Ikon. Martin, . John and Dan of Wingham. We are sorry to report that little Jimmie Miller is still a patient in Wingham Hospital. He . took a [Sentinel staff photo] relapse • last week and was seriously ill for a time but was a little improved on' the .weekend. We hope he will continue to improve. The Guides of the 1st Holyrood Girl Guides Co. were busy selling cdokies op Saturday. They had a successful day but stillhave more to sell. Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Young visited Friday evening with his sister, Mrs. May Richardson, and also with Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Richardson, all of Wingham.
