The May meeting of the St. Augustine Catholic Women's League was held May 2 in the Vestry, with president, Mrs. Cyril Boyle in the chair. Father Dentinger opened with prayer and Mrs. Franken gave the spiritualreadi rig. Plans were discussed towards the 75th anniversary of the St. Augustine Parish which is to be held August 6. The new kitchen cupboards • purchased by the, C.W.L. have been installed. Members were invited to a retreat at St. Joseph's, Kings- bridge in late May. • Final plans were made for the < First Communion Breakfast on Sunday, May 14. Father Dentinger spoke on Christian Missions. Mrs. Cyril Boyle gave a reading and the meeting closed with prayer and lunch. LUCKNOW PRESBYTERIAN W.M.S. Mrs, Omar Brooks presided at. the May meeting of the Women's Missionary Society held in the Sunday School room of the, Presbyterian Church in Lucknow on May 3. Mrs. W. Mrs. A. Loree gave the Bible Study and Mrs. Brooks gave the offering prayer. The Mission Study was taken by Mrs. R. Forrester; an account of the changing face.. of the Caribbean Islands. Mrs. Forester closed the study with prayer. Following the hymn, Rev. Mun- shaw closed the meeting with prayer. • LUCKNOW U.C.W. UNIT 1 Seventeen members gathered at the home of Mrs. Lawrence MacLeod for the May meeting of Unit 1, U,C.W. Ruth Pritchard, as program convener, opened the meeting with a Mother's Day poem. -Edyth MacKenzie gave a reading on the Mother's Day theme. Phyllis Morrison read the scripture and followed with prayer. _ Mrs. Lawrence MacLeod read an article on the Mother's Day theme and Mrs. Roy Havens read a poem. Edyth MacKenzie closed the program with a prayer for Mothers. The committee reports were given and thanks were received from Mrs. McMurchy, Mrs. Murdie and Miss Thompson for cards they received. The regular offering was received and the Blanket Fund collected. Freda Button was auctioneer for a successful Hobby Sale. SOUTH KINLOSS W.M.S.PRESBYTERIAN . Mrs. .Philip Steer was hostess for the May meeting of South Kinloss Women's Missionary Society. Mrs. Lloyd MacDougall presided and welcomed all. Minuteswere read • by the secretary, Mrs. Harry Lavis, followed with the business. The 90th anniversary of our W.M.S. is this year and a committee of Mrs. Ira Dickie, Mrs. Jack Needham and Mrs. Evan Keith were voted to plan for a special meeting. The Presbyterial will be held in Belmore later in May. The Bible Study by, Mrs. Ted . Collyer was on David, one of the outstanding leaders . of Israel. Mrs. Frank MacKenzie read an editorial from the Glad Tidings on the Bertholet's appointed by the Presbyterian Church to work in Nepal. Accordian music played by Mrs. Leonard Clarke was enjoy- ed. Mrs. Clark Needham, Mrs. Haroldustin, Mrs. Gib Hamil- ton took part in the Prayer Circle. The offertory prayer was by Mrs. Harry Lavis. The Study Book chapter, Faith and Action, was given by Mrs. Evan Keith, The closing prayer was given by ` Mrs. Alvin Schmidt, and courtesies by Mrs. Ted Collyer. A social half hour followed, served by the hostess and directors, Mrs. Ted Collyer and Mrs. Evan keith. LUCKNOW U.C.W. UNIT 3 Unit 3 of the Lucknow United Church Women met in the church parlour on May 2 with Ahnie Kilpatrick as hostess. The tables were decorated with spring daffodils and hyacinths. Mrs. Cook welcomed everyone and read a Mother's Day poem. On behalf of the choir, she thanked the committee for the lunch served to the choirs ,following the Wiarton and District Choir Concert on April 10. Mrs. Bradley reported on the visit to Pinecrest Manor recently. Following a brief business period, Mrs. Cook gave these announcements: - an invitation to "A Bridal Gowns Through the Ages Review" at the St. Andrew's United Church, Ripley in June • = a retreat at Silver Lake Camp in June • - a general meeting with the Stewardship Division ` in charge later this month., Mrs. Eldon Bradley was con- vener for the program with the theme, "Mothers". Sheopened with a verse and a hymn. The scripture was read by Olive Smith and the meditation' by Mrs. Murray Henderson. Mrs. Bradley read a prayer and Mrs. Ross Henderson gave "Mother's Day Thoughts". Mrs. Bradley conducted a brief study on Tourism in the Carib- bean and some of the missionary work being done on the islands. A contest, "Mothers in the Bible", was played and Mrs. C9ok closed with prayer. The committee, Mrs. Ross Henderson, Mrs. Murray Hend- erson, Mrs. Jim Wraith and Mrs. Eldon Bradley served the dessert. Following lunch, Mrs. Ross Shiells acted as auctioneer for the Hobby Sale which netted $35. LUCKNOW U.C.W. UNIT 2 The May meeting of Lucknow United Church Women Unit 2 was held at the home of Mr's. Andrew, Ritchie. Grace Gibson opened with a welcome and a poem. The treasurer's report was given by Mrs. Andrew Ritchie, Community Friendship was given by Ada Webster. Mrs: Chas. MacDonald, for social functions, made arrangements for, catering to a wedding later in May. Mrs. W. G..Hunter reported for Supply and Welfare and displayed a quilt which has been made.Blanket fund collection was taken. Mrs.. Glen Walden announced the joint meeting and spring Thankoffering on June 16. Invita- tions were received to attend the Ripley U.C.W. "Bridal Fashions Through the Ages" and the retreat at Silver Lake. The offering was taken by Mrs. Ritchie and dedicated by Mrs. Gibson, Mrs. Raynard Ackert took charge of the devotional. She opened with prayer and Eva Freeman read the scripture. Mrs. Ackert read the devotional and Mrs, Glen Walden played the record of a hymn. Ada Webster gave a Mother's Day ,.reading.
