At the April 26th meeting of the
Lucknow and District Leo Club,
Deb Arnold, the club's new
member, was presented with her
Leo Membership Plus award for
her part in bringing in new
members into the club•. Leo Patti
Brooks had won a similar award
earlier.
During the business section of
the meeting it was decided' the
club would hold a volunteer clean
up day on Saturday, May 6. The
membership was divided into five
groups and each will make itself
'available to help residents in
Lucknow put up screens, rake
lawns, dig flower beds, etc. The
club felt it would have to limit the
clean up to residents of Lucknow
and restrict the number of jobs so
as to complete all on Saturday.
Calls will be taken on a first come,
first serve basis. Anyone wishing
a hand with their spring clean
up, please call Leo Advisor, Rod
McDonagh at 528-3423.
It was also decided that the
club would hold a Bike-a-thon ori
Sunday, May 28th. This would.be
over a 40 kilometre course going
from the Lucknow arena to Nile
and back to the arena. The
Bike-a-thon will be open to
anyone 12 years of age and over.
Entry- forms are available at
Beckers, Schmid's Jewellery,
Bain's Groceteria and McDonagh
Insurance.
The club has decided to give 75
percent of the profit to the
Lucknow Recreation Committee
and the money is to be channelled
directly to the purchase of new
roller skates.
Other projects on the go at
present include the St. John's
Ambulance course which started
last Thursday and the dance this
Friday night at the Holyrood Hall.
Three Lucknow Leos -attended the
chartering of the Arthur Leo Club
on April 28.
Everyone is urged to attend the
next meeting on May 10 when
lawyer, George Brophy, returns
to preside as judge over a
simulated court case which was
set. up on an earlier visit by Mr.
Brophy to the club.

dispute between the board and
the secondary school teachers'
federation, he is concerned for
Brenda's current school year and
her .future education.
He went on to say that, as his
two daughters are entitled to an
education in Huron County
schools, which they. are unable to
receive here, through no fault of
their own, Taylor feels he is
entitled to'a reimbursement of the
$204.54 tuition fees which he is
paying ' to the Oxford County
Board. •
The Board's reaction to Tay-
lor's request wasthat there was a
rebate of tax dollars which
resulted in a saving from not
paying teachers': salaries during
the strike, but there is no rebate
for a 'parent . who chooses to
remove a child to another system.
Marian; Zinn, made the motion
that the board not pay the rebate
to Taylor because of the' ramifica-

county for 31 days. The board
picked up some of those days
by cancelling mid-term
exams (six days),
eliminating the need for
course review for those
exams (three days) and
benefitting from a storm free
winter which allowed schools
to be open five more days
than the previous winter.
Cochrane asked the board ,
to consider other moves
which would assure con-

until the final examinations
began. He suggested that
athletic activities during
regular school hours be
eliminated except with the
prior approval of the director,'
the elimination of student
field trips during class time,
elimination of professional

during class time and general
discouragement of . special
