Mrs. Morris Santiago of Los Angeles (nee Christine MacMil- lan) was a recent visitor with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. L. MacMillan. She is on the staff of the Doctor David Brotman Mem- orial Hospital in Los Angeles. Mr. and Mrs. and Mr. and Mrs. the weekend in with Mr. Eugene relatives. Elmer Smeltzer Bill Scott spent Detroit visiting Blue and other Miss Helen Thompson of Lucknow returned to her home on Thursday of last week from Wingham and District' Hospital, where she was a patient for three weeks. The Legion Ladies' Auxiliary. held a progressive euchre party April 11: with eight tables. Mr. Wes Young was high man, Mrs. Viola Stanley high lady, Mr. Henry Carter low man and Mrs. Colleen Eedy low lady. Anna Johnstone won the door prize which was donated by Verna Gardner. Mr. and Mrs. John MacMurchy of Lucknow, attended the funeral of her brother, Wm. Farrell, which was held at the Ripley Funeral Home recently. Mr. Farrell was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters who were born and raised on the farm now owned by Allan Farrell, son of William Farrell, who lives in the Bethel area. Mrs. MacMurchy is the only surviving member of a family of six. Visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Wellington Webster and Cecil were Jim Webster of Waterloo, Mi. and Mrs. Atlee Wise and Patricia of Richfield, Ohio; the home of the Cleveland Barons. HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY The Horticultural Society held their regular monthly meeting in the Legion Hall on Wednesday afternoon, April 12 with a good attendance. The members spent a pleasant afternoon making post- ers in preparation for the Spring Flower Display and Tea, to be held in the Legion Hall, May 10. By The Sentinel THAT The publisher of the Lucknow Sentinel, Bob Shrier, won the $1,000 in last week's Community Centre Lottery. Bob's wife, Jo, bought him the ticket as a birthday present. THAT Workers travelling to Douglas Point saw a rabid fox on Bruce County Road 1, north of Lucknow, early Tuesday morning. The fox was running with a dog and the Kincardine detachment of the O.P.P. have been trying to determine who owns the dog. If you have a pet cat or dog, keep it at home. This is the second incident of a rabid fox in the immediate vicinity of the village within the past month. Ashfield Recreation Committee The Ashfield Recreation Com- mittee met April 13, in Brookside Public School. Mary Belle Cran- ston of West Wawanosh also attended. Chairman of the com- mittee for this year is John Austin and Diane Hackett is secretary. Thirteen members make up this year's committee. Clarence Doherty gave a report on the Dungannon Baseball Diamond. It was decided that outside .teams would pay $10 to help with expenses. Randy Kerr, Dungannon, will look after the lights and bookings for this season. An organization meeting will be held the end of April.
