On Sunday, April 2, a group of
"Dungannon Old Gids" were
entertained at the home) of
Lauretta (McClure) Hefford. The
occasion' was her annual Spring
Luncheon. The guests were
Wilma (Treleaven) Woodford,
Edith (Treleaven) Younkie, Ethel
(Case) Hay, Margaret (Pentland)
Pritchard, Alma Hunter, Flora
Durnin and her friend Nora
Creyke. They spent the afternoon
reading articles from the home-
town papers, looking at snaps, old
and ' recent, and reminiscing
about life in earlier days.

Misses Judy and Janet Godfrey
are visiting their sister and
brother-in-law, Sue and Glen
MacDonald in Kitchener now.
Harvey and Joe Sproul return-
ed through the week from
Brownsville, Texas, where they
spent the winter.
Mr. and Mrs. Eric McNee and
family visited on Sunday with Mr.
and Mrs. Graham McNee and
Mrs. Ross McNee. Angele and
Craig had spent the last two
weeks in Sudbury with her
relatives and Eric and Brenda
went to Sudbury for them on
Saturday. Brenda stayed with her
grandparents and with Mr. and
Mrs. Jiin Hayden while her
mother was away . so that, she
could go to school.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill, Blake, Becky
and Kara, of Cambridge, spent
the weekend with Mrs. Cecil
Blake and with Mr. and Mrs.
Eugene Ryan in Goderich. ,
Mr. and Mrs. Grant Sowerby
visited last weekend with Mrs.
Cecil Blake and Mr. and Mrs.
Tom Sowerby in Goderich Town-
ship. (This is to correct an error
last week when Mr. Tom Sower-
by's name was inadvertently
omitted.)
Kevin Mack, son of Mr. and
,
Mrs. John Black, who was on
crutches for some time a year or
so ago for a hip condition, had an
operation recently to remove a
plate from his hip and has been
on crutches again until it heals.
A goodly crowd of friends and
relatives attended the 30th wed-
ding anniversary party for Ross
and Bernice Henry at the
Dungannon Agricultural Hall on
Saturday night. Russell Irvin,
who was best man at the wedding
gave the address and called all
the family to the front. Mrs.
Isabel Adams, whoy_vas Bernice's
bridesmaid, made the presenta-
tion. Mrs. Doug Henry was
unable to attend as she was still in
hospital in London where she had
a baby boy recently, •a new
brother for - Justin, and another
grandson for Ross and Bernice.
Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs.
Doug Henry of London on the
birth of their son.
Mrs. Les Schultz returned
home from Wingham Hospital
during the week.
Mrs. Elm Reed is a patient in
Wingham Hospital since Thurs-
day morning.
Mr. and Mrs. John Park,
Wayne and Glenda, and Kathie
and John Stanbury visited with
Mr, and Mrs. Wm. Petrie in
Goderich on Sunday. Allan Petrie
is home from the south where he
spent the winter.
Mrs. Graham NcNee and Mrs. -
Mary Bere visited their aunt,
Mrs. Gertrude Bell in Huronview
on Saturday. Mrs. Bell broke her
wrist in a fall recently and is in
considerable discomfort. Mrs.
McNee and Mrs. Bere also visited
their niece, Mrs. Joy Vella and
Tammy in Seafotth.
The local L.O.L. held their last
card party of this season at the
L.O.L. Hall on Friday night with 8
tables in play. The prizes are as
follows: high lady, Mrs. Marie
Park (81); second high, Mrs.
Louise Brindle), (72); high gent,
Art Young (74); second high, Bert
Medd (69); low prizes went to
Mrs. Jean Errington and Tom
Young.
Dungannon Agricultural Soci-
ety held the March meeting in the
hall on Wednesday, March 29.
—Committee reports were given on
the successful card party and
bake sale held in mid March with
27 tables. It wasdecided to have
another card. party and White
Elephant Sale this Wednesday at
the hall. Directors were chosen
for the different classes for the
Fall Fair.
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Webster
visited with Mr. and Mrs. Bill
Bradley in Goderich on Sunday.
Mrs. Dwayne McDonald, Anne
Marie and Scott of Kingston
spent' about ten days recently
with her parents, Rev. C. G. and
Mrs. Westhaver. Other members
of the family visited briefly at
Easter time, Mr. and Mrs. David
Mitchell (Rose) of London; Carol
of Toronto; Grace, who is
attending Teachers' College in
London and her fiance, Rick
Lemon of Dundalk.

UNITED CHURCH
Rev: C. G. Westhaver spoke
on, "The Power of an Endless
Life" on Sunday morning. The
children's story was about, "Sun-
dar,Singh, a boy of India". The
choir sang the anthem, "Some-
body Touched Me", led by
Shelley Rivett at the organ.
The trustees met briefly after
the service.
Explorers meet on Tuesday and
Choir practice is on Thursday.
•A committee of the Board of
Stewards has been appointed to
draw up a list of ushers to include
some of the younger church
members. This committee will
meet next week at the manse.
Camp Menesetung folders with
particulars on the summer camp-
ing program were on the table at
the back of the church.
Vacation Bible School is being
planned in Dungannon for the
third week in July.
The Dungannon UCW ladies
were invited to attend a special
event at the Auburn United
Church on Sunday evening. As
part of the Easter Thankoffering
meeting, a Contata, "The Miracle
Worker", was presented by the
Fordwich United Church Choir.

FELLOWSHIP CHURCH
A group of thirty people from
the church went to Pinecrest
Manor on Friday evening. A
program was put on consisting of
several musical numbers, group
singing, and vocal duets by Ruth
and], Irene Martin.
The children's Bible Club will
meet at the home of Peter and
Elizabeth Martin on Saturday
afternoon. All children between
grades 2 and 8 are welcomed to
join the group on Saturday.
. Pastor Lawrence based his
Sunday sermon on the 15th
chapter of Luke, the parables of
The Lost Sheep and The Lost
Coin.
BROOKSIDE HAPPENINGS
Mr. Jewitt attended a princip-
al's seminar in. Toronto at the
latter part of the week.
Lois Tebbutt's grade 4 and 5
class and Nancy Cameron's grade
3 and 4 class went to Robinson's
'sugar bush on Tuesday. They
were given samples of maple
syrup, butter and sugar and saw
the modern vacuum systetn in the
bush used for pumping sap from
the trees. The children really
enjoyed the trip.
Kindergarten and grades 1 and
2 with their teachers, Lois
Farrish, Louise Wilson and Janet
Blanchette went to Kingsbridge
school on Wednesday morning to
see a Safety League program

The children were asked to
participate and learned much
about safety rules.
Plans are afoot for Education
Week when grades 5 -.8 will put
on a Science, History and"
Geography Fair and grades 1-4
will show a. Hobby Fair. These
displays will be set up in the gym
next Tuesday afternoon. Parents
will have the opportunity to see
them 'next Wednesday morning
and the differenct classes will be
allowed to view the displays in the
afternoon.
Several of the women teacris
from Brookside attended the 60th
Anniversary Tea for F.W.T.A.O.
held by the Central Unit of Huron
County F.W. in Holmesville
School on Tuesday after school.
The unit president,' Sandy Braid,
was in charge and gave some
interesting historical facts about
the Women Teacher's Federa-
tion. Ruth Shaddick introduced
the guest speaker, Esther Hume,
who gave an interesting talk,
citing some of her experiences
during 35 years of teaching and
participating in Federation activ-
ities, The County President, Carol
Simons, spoke briefly and wel-
comed those present.

Cultural Activites was the
theme of the Women's Institute
meeting on Wednesday afternoon
under the -convenership of Mrs.
Wilmer Rutledge. A pot luck
dinner was arranged at the home
of Mrs. Harry Girvin.
The president, Mrs. Elmer
Black, invited all to enjoy •the
meal. The minutes and financial
report and correspondence were
read by Mrs. Harry Girvin,
secretary treasurer. Several thank
you notes were received from
those who received Easter gifts
and visits. Letters are to be sent
to several in charge of the English
curriculum in Huron County
Secondary High Schools re their
choice of books. Donations of
articles for gifts at the Ploughing
Match were discussed. In May
our branch plans to go to Lucknow
for the Pinecrest Birthday Party.
The District Annual is to be held
in Nile Church on May 29..
Another request for quilting has
been accepted.
Mrs. W. Rutledge read two
poems. She then introduced her
guest, Mrs. Jerry Crawford, from
Goderich (nee Norma Errington)
who gave a very interesting
demonstration on ceramics which
she teaches in Goderich. At the
conclusion she gave each lady an
article of her work. Mrs. Rutledge
presented her with a gift also.
Mrs. Graham McNee, district
president, conducted the election
of officers for 1978-79 after Mrs.
Hugh McWhinney read the rep,ort
of the nominating committee.
