The annual meeting of the
Holyrood Women's Institute was
held on April 6 at the home of
Mrs. Lorne Eadie.
The retiring president, Mrs.
William MacPherson, was in
charge. Mrs. Jack Scott read last
month's minutes and the corres-
pondence which included a notice
of a food forum at Southampton
.on April 19th.
The quilt which the ladies
quilted since the last meeting was
displayed.
Mrs. Jack Scott gave a report
on the District Director's meeting
which was held at Silver Lake on
March 28th.
The District annual will be held
UNIT 3 LUCKNOW U,C.W.
Unit 3 met at the home of Mrs.
Peter Cook on Tuesday, April 4th.
Mrs. Cook welcomed everyone to
her . home and opened the
meeting. Mrs.. Wilbur Brown
read the scripture, gave the
Easter meditation and prayer.
Mrs. Cook gave a reading on
"April and Spring". Mrs. Symon
de Boer sang a song.
Following the .business, Mrs.
Cook turned the meeting over to
the convener, Mrs. Grace Camp-
bell. Mrs: Car%pbell gave a most
interesting account of the Econ-
omy and Religion in the Carib-
bean. This was followed b.y an
instrumental by Mrs. Wesley
Ritchie. Mrs. Glen Walden read a
most informative letter from Mrs.
Brock Cleland, who is in the
island of St. Vincent.
Mrs. Cook and her daughter,
Mrs. Peter Steer, sang a duet. A
reading, "Grandmother's Old
Quilting Frames" was given by
Mrs. Jessie Alton. Mrs. Campbell
conducted a Biblical contest. A
social time closed fhe meeting.

Jack Scott and Mrs. Lorne Eadie.

The . March meeting of the
Women's Missionary Society of
the Presbyterian Church, Luck -
now, was • held in the Sunday
School room on April 5.
Mrs.. organ Henderson pres-
ided, opening the meeting by
reading a poem.
Mrs. W. Wilson gave the Bible
Study and an Easter poem. Mrs.
Moffat favoured with a piano solo
and, Mrs. Laidlawled in prayer.
The Easter Thankoffering was
announced for April 18. A letter
from parents, regarding objec-
tionable reading given the pupils
in school, was read.
Fifteen dollars was to be
contributed toward sending •a girl
to C.G.I.T. camp.
Following the offering, Mrs.
Henderson gave the offertory
prayer. •
Mrs. W. Porteous gave an
interesting review" of the Glad
Tidings, and reported that the
allocation for the bale is $60 this
year; donations can be given to
the bale secretary, Mrs. Porte-
ous.
Mrs. George Kennedy gave the
Easter message telling 'about her
'trip to the. Holy Land.
Mrs. Cranston closed the
meeting with prayer. -

Mrs. Havens welcomed every-
one to the April meeting which as
held at the home of Mrs. Anna
Mae Hunter.
Mrs. Lois Walden visited the
meeting to read a very interesting
letter from Mary Cleland about
her life on St. Vincent's Island.
She also passed around several
pictures which Mary had included
in her letter. Mrs. Walden also
read a letter from Kingsbridge
C.W.L. concerning books used in
High School English courses. A
discussion followed about these
books and their suitability for
study: Mrs. Walden also announ-
ced the coming of the Wiarton
Choir and left tickets for sale and
the combined general meeting
and Thankoffering on Tuesday,
May 16. Anna Mae Hunter will
be flower convener with help from
Isobel Havens and Freda Button.

Mrs. Alex Percy was program

two part reading was given with
the Woman's Views, by Mrs.
Alex Percy, and the Man's Side
was upheld by Miss Mary Eadie.
All members took part in a
flower, contest, and Mrs. William
MacPherson gave the courtesy
remarks,

reading. Mrs. Freda Button read
a Supply and Welfare report from
Bruce Presbyterial annual report.
Mrs. Shirley Bolt read the
treasurer's report. The ladies
were reminded about the hobby
sale for the May meeting and
Pinecrest program for June. Mrs.
Freda Button and Mrs. Anna Mae
Hunter offered to help serve
lunch to the choir after the
Tuesday concert.
The meeting was turned over to
Mrs. Vi Arnold for the program.
Mrs. Mintz read the scripture.
Meditation was read by Mrs.
Arnold followed by prayer. Mrs.
Bolt gave readings on Resurrec-
tion. The story of Easter was read
by Mrs. Mintz. Mrs. Arnold read
excerpts from the book, "It's
Time for Easter". Mrs. Arnold
thanked those who helped with
the program and Anna Mae for
her home. The meeting closed
with prayer and lunch.
