Eight . members answered the roll call, "A leisure time activity I would like to develop." Mrs. Black led an exercise with photographs in which the girls had to choose examples of good and bad photography and give reasons for their choice. Mrs. Black showed different house plants. Each member is to bring a plant slip to the next meeting. Some of the members took home slips of Mrs. Black's rat-tail cactus. Dungannon 1 went on a field trip to Bill Robinson's mapi sugar bush on March 18 and Dungannon 3 went on March 27. gill showed the girls through the bush and his sugar shanty. He gave .them samples of maple syrup, maple, butter and maple candy. They were told the legend of how maple syrup making was started and Bill showed them an antique wooden sap bucket. He demonstrated the modern plastic pipeline method. The Dungannon 1 girls wer1T back to Jean Errington's td! complete the meeting. Roll call was answered by telling, "What I hope to learn on this field trip". Plans were made .for a demonstration at Achievement Day. The club girls discussed the making of feeding bibs and knee covers which they plan to make as a contribution to the com- munity and give to Pinecrest Nursing Home in Lucknow. The Dungannon 3 girls returned to Mrs. Black's for their meeting. The roll call, "One thing I hope to learn on this field trip". The next club, a Garden Club was discussed to see who """'was interested. Pamphlets were distributed to all members, "Keep Ontario beautiful". Also discussed was a topic, "What will the world be like in 50 years?" HOLYROOD TIP-TOP TAILORS The seventh meeting of the Holyrood Tip -Top Tailors was held at the home of Mrs. Barb Gingrich on Saturday April 1st at 9:45 a.m. Everyone answered the roll call by telling "whose opinion counts most when I am deciding what to wear." Connie Stanley read the .minutes of the last meeting. Mrs. Gingrich read the section on "Finishing Your Blouse" from the member's pamphlet. The leaders demonstrated and showed us samples of a hand worked buttonhole, a button with a thread shank, a snap fastener, a hook and eye and different hems. The members then worked on their samples and blouses. F•: IMO KAIRSHEA 'CLOTHES KLOSET The seventh meeting of the Kairshea Klothes Kloset, which was held on March 31, 1978 at Mrs. Alice Doelman's at 4:15 p.m. was opened with the 4-11 motto. Lorna Boyle read the minutes of the last 'meeting. The roll call was answered, We decided\on our next- meeting. It will be on Thursday, April 6, 1978 at Mrs. Irene Dickie's at 4:15 p.m. We are to have almost everything done. We discussed our book covers and came up with good ideas. We also talked about the skit. Mrs. Alice Doelman and Mrs. Irene Dickie demonstrated how to make a button hole by hand. Mrs. Alice Doelman showed how to do the' hems' too,.on a sample. Our meeting was closed with the 4-H pledge. TRINITY # 1 Trinity 1 held their fifth meeting on April 2 with a field trip to Donald Alton's sugar bush. The girls walked through the bush and watched the sap being made into maple syrup in .the Alton sugar shack. The leaders assisted the girls in making pancakes on an electro -maid in the bus and these were enjoyed with maple syrup. The girls were given a ride back to the house from the bush in Donald's jeep. The club wishes to thank Donald for showing them the maple syrup operation and for the use of their bus and to Sherry for showing them through the bush. Janet Laidlaw read the minutes., Discussion centred on finishing the blouse. Mrs. Archie Purdon demonstrated hand made. button holes, and a hem for aknit goods. Mrs. Elliott 'did button holes and application of fasteners and hems for woven goods. 4-H Calf' Club The Lucknow 4-H Calf Club held its organizational meeting at Brookside Public School on March 23 at 8:00 p.m. Len MacGregor, ex- tension assistant < of 4-1-1 in Huron County hosted the meeting and after a fun -time he told us what we have to do in 4-11 and informed us of the coming events which we would run into in the months ahead. The Lucknow club consists of both dairy and beef cattle. Later, kin our club we voted on who would be our executive. Our executive is : president, Grace Alton; vice- president, Kay Morrison; secretary, Sharon Alton; press reporter, Karl Morrison and our two 4-H leaders are Ken Mewhinney and Barry Elliott. Our youthcouncil representatives are David Elliott and David DeBoer. Our next meeting will be held at the home of Sharon Alton on May 10 at 8:30 p.m. 4-H is open to boys and girls between the ages of 11 and_ 20 as of January 1st, 1978.
