Jim Farrell on the Twelfth concession of Huron township was held last Saturday afternoon April 1st and not as this writer stated in last weeks column. Sorry for this unintentional mistake. The veterniary consultant with the United Breeders in this area, Dr. Hugh W. Clugston of Wingham was tie special speaker of the afternoon. The funeral service for the late Dorothy Christine Thompson of Oshawa was conducted last Wednesday afternoon at the MacKenzie McCreath Ripley Funeral Home by Rev. Hugh Nugent of Knox Presbyterian Churdh here. Miss Thompson was a native of the fourth Con- cession east in Huron township and for many years a teacher on the Oshawa staff. Visitors with Mr. and Mrs. . Francis Genronell on the Easter weekend were her sister Mrs. Frank Inksater of Paris and Dr. and Mrs. K.L. Smith of Kitchener were here. On Tuesday afternoon of last week Mrs. E. O. Forrester had the misfortune to fall on the road in the vicinity- . of the railway crossing near the ,Ripley Chopping Mill. Her, husband, Ossie,took her to Kincardine where it was found Mrs. Forrester had broken her , nose, having fallen on her face on the road. She was able to return home after the break was tended and is now recovering there. She and her husband had just returned recently _from a winter vacation in California, motoring both out and back without a mishap, and then Mrs. Forrester suffers this painful injury a few yards from her home. Friends wish Elsie a speedy recovery. Miss Jean MacDonald of the staff of Pine Lodge Rest Home in Lucknow spent the weekend with her sister, Noreen, at their Malcolm street home in Ripley. Dr. and Mrs. Donald john. MacDonald and family of Toronto visited over the Easter weekend with his mother, Mrs. Mary R. MacDonald, and his aunt, Mrs. Elizabeth Fair, and friends in. the Ripley area. Mr. and Mrs. A.J. Gardner and sons of Vanastra spent last weekend in Ripley visiting wish Donnie and Carol Fludder, Tammy and Jason, and Glen Harris. Mr. and Mrs. Barry Wylds of Ripley spent the Easter holiday in Toronto with her sister. Richard Worthington of Sarnia was here with Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Worthington. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Blue and Danette of Listowel are holidaying in Florida. Over a week ago Reg Moore. returned home from a three week vacation in the Malaga area on the 'south coast of Spain. Following his return, John Moore, of Ottawa visited with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Reg Moore in Ripley. Mr. and Mrs. Donnie Blue,, Neil and Allison, of Toronto visited in Ripley with his mother, Mrs. Margaret Blue, and With his sisters, Mrs. Betty Scott and Mrs. Bertha Scott,and their families. Five month old Jamie ,Stam, infant son of Karen and Leonard Stam east of Bervie Was taken by helicopter ambulance from Owen Sound hospital to the Sick Children's Hospital in Toronto last Tuesday night for an-, emergency operation. He is reported gaining strength now. His mother Karen is the daughter of Doug and Marion Lackey, Con 4. Huron twp. Bruce Scott of Burlington was home with his parents Jack and Betty Scott and family members. Neils Frederiksen is back on the job at the Kincardine Golf Club where he has been employed for the past several summers. Mrs. Joan Riley who has been a patient in the Kin- cardine and District hospital was able to come home to Ripley last Saturday. Mr. and. Mrs. Don Duthie, Kimberley and Lori Ann of Mississauga and Elmer Reavie of Lucknow visited with friends and relatives here. Mrs. Margaret Blue, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Blue and Mrs. Lloyd Irwin spent Easter Sunday with Bill and Bertha' Scott and family on the fourth concession, Huron Township and also celebrated Bill's birthday. Mrs. Gladys Mason of Ripley, "Mr. Currie Colwell and daughter Anne of South Kinloss accompanied Don and Anne McCosh of Ripley last Sunday to visit with their cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Mitchell and family in Mitchell. Mr. and Mrs. Grant Farrell of Toronto spent Easter with their parents and family members -Mr. and Mrs. Keith Carter and Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Farrell. Ripley folks are glad to learn that Mrke Ross Martyn returned ' to her home in Ripley after being away for the winter. Accompanying Adeline and staying for a short time were her brother and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Mooney of Woodstock. - On Saturday evening the family of Mrs. Charles Pollock of Ripley entertained her at a birthday dinner at the Bruce Inn, Kincardine on the occasion of her 90th birthday. Those attending were Mr. and Mrs. Tom Bank (Norine) from Stoney Creek; Mr. and BY AB WYLDS Mrs. Bert Goff (Helen) and son Ronald from Hamilton and Greg from Toronto; Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Pollock and Nancy from Tillsonburg and son Gary from London; Mr. Murray Pollock and Margaret Schiestel from Teeswater; • Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Pollock from Ripley; Mr. and Mrs. Brian Pollock, Tony and Joanne of Ripley; Mr. and Mrs. Phil Breckles (Cheryl) and sons Chris and Jeffery from Goderich; other guests included Mr. and Mrs. Elwyn Pollock, Mrs. Charlotte MacDonald, and Miss Christena Robertson of Ripley. Many friends called on Sunday afternoon to say Happy Birthday and enjoy a visit and a cup of tea. Recent visitors with Miss Christena Robertson in Ripley were her sister, Mrs. Elvira Mewhinney of Port Elgin and nephew, William Dorolses of Toronto. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Cam- pbell of Amberley, Mr. and Mrs. Goldie Harris of Kin- cardine, Mrs. Marjorie Reid and Mr. and Mrs. Mervyn Hooey of Ripley visited on Sunday . with Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hewitson in Owen Sound. Mrs. Frances Elliott of Ripley visited last week with her sister, Mrs. Clarice Edgar, in London. The pioneers had a saying which fitted last Monday's chilly, raw weather perfectly. It was "a wind which blows from the east is neither fit for man nor beast." Mr. Floyd Stanley, Prin- cipal of the Ripley Huron Central School, his wife, Lynne and son, Deane, spent the school winter break in Southern California. They flew from Toronto to Los Angeles. Then they motored to San Diego where they enjoyed their vacp.tion. Anne Liddle, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D.A. Liddle of Oakville visited with her grandmother Mrs. Charles Liddle Sr. and other relatives during the March school break. Anne is attending Sheridan College in Oakville. Mr. and Mrs. Tem Howie and Faith and Timothy visited with Mr. and. Mrs. Les Wardell on the weekend..
