A free workshop at -.the Energy Conservation Centre on Campbell Street, Lucknow, is an opportunity to • get an introduction to the basics of solar energy. Can it really heat a home during one winter. Can it be used to heat a swimming pool or a barn? How can it be used to heat water? The workshop will be -held on Friday evening, April 7 at 7:30 p.m. in the Energy Conservation Centre. Orval Elliott presents the Highest Herd Average Award to Peter Scheurwater, R.R.2, Teeswater whose herd had the highest composite breed class average with a B.C.A. composite of 143. Mr. Scheurwater also received the certificate for the Greatest Production Increase Award. Murray Wilkin who did not attend the dinner received the Breeding Efficiency Award. He suggested that the principals and vice -principals could be of great assistance to the Grade 13 students in a classroom environment. Cochrane explained that the principals were not necessarily qualified to teach all subjects. He said they may hold a degree in history but that that wouldn't be much good teaching mathematics. "I've been given to un- derstand that secondary school teachers are qualified to • teach anything," said Turkheim. John Elliott added that the principals and vice -principals are members of the Ontario Secondary School Teacher's Federation and as such are bound by OSSTF regulations in the strike. He said the school administrators could only teach classes they taught before the strike and cannot expand their services to any other class or course. Area accident 1 Alvin Moffat of RR 2 Teewater was in collision with Ruth Buchmeier, RR 3, 1 Holyrood, on County Road No. 1, at Concession 2, Kinloss 1 on March 28 at 5 :00 p.m. The Moffat vehicle failed to stop at County Road No. 1, and turned into the nor- thbound lane of County Road No. 1, striking the l uchnleier vehicle. No one was injured 1 and damages amounted to $1,800.
