laf Kingsbridge. He passed away
in St. Joseph's Hospital, Toronto
in his 65th year, He is srvived by

parents Mr. and Mrs. John A.
Currie and family.
The second meeting of White-
church 4-H club was held on
Monday 'evening at the home of
Mrs. Archie Purdon. In the
absence of the president Lorie
Purdon, the vice president, Janet
Laidlaw, opened the ' meeting.
After .a choice of several names
they decided to call the club,
Whitechurch Twirling Bobbins.
Mrs. Purdon talked to the club
about . selecting fabric for a
blouse. Mrs. Elliott discussed and
demonstrated selecting a pattern
and advanced preparation of
material. All took` measurements
and figured out their type.
For home assignment they are
to have their fabric pre shrunk for
the next meeting at the home of
the other leader, Mrs. Walter
Elliott, on Monday evening.

Speaking held in the Brookside
Auditorium on Friday, February

Congratulations to Don and
Henrietta Mann on the birth of a
baby girl on Sunday. February 19
at the Wingham and District
General Hospital. Proud grand-
parents are Mr. and Mrs. Frank
VanDiepenbeek' of Kingsbridge.

receivi1j g an extended holiday
because 274 Huron County Sec-
ondary teachers are locked out by
the Board of Education because of
a dispute over daily work loads
and sick leave provisions. Let's
hope they soon get their difficul-
ties solved and the students get
back to school where they belong.
There was an enjoyable time at
the card party held in St. Joseph's
Hall at Kingsbridge on Friday
evening. February 24th following
the Lenten Holy Hour. Winners of
;the prizes were: Ladies' high,
,Mrs. Grace Austin; ladies' second
high. Mrs. Betty VanOsch; men's
high. John Austin; men's second
high, Cyril Austin. There will be
another card party on Friday
evening, March 3rd beginning at
9 p.m.
Mary Clare and Teresa Court-
ney were among 15 ladies' of the
different . church organizations
who' met in the Anglican. Parish
Hall, Lucknow to make plans for
this year's World Day of Prayer to
be held in the Anglican Church,
Lucknow, on Friday, March 6 at 2
p.ih. •
This week . has been •a busy
week for inter -school- Public
Speaking. On Wednesday, Febru-
ary 22' speakers from. St. Joseph's
School at Kingsbridge spoke at
Sacred Heart School, Wingham.,
This contest represented the Zone
Finals of the O.E.C.T.A. Public
Speaking contest. On Friday
evening in ,. Lucknow ' the • Royal
Canadian Legion contest •was
held: Congratulations to Heather
Anne Stapleton who .placed
second. in. the Senior competi-
tions. At 8.30. on : Wednesday,
March lst a St. Joseph's School
Associationmeeting is to be held.
The following night the final
parent meeting will be held
before the Grades • seven and
eight students head out to Ayton.
In the meantime, Mrs. Park is
planning a trip to a local • sugar
bush for her grades three and
four. This is to, happen in March.
Mrs. Eedy is busy preparing her
grade three class for the Sacra-
ment of First Confessions to be
held • in Kingsbridge on Sunday,
Mareh 12.
Miss Joanne Hamilton attend-
ed a History Conference in
Toronto last Thursday evening,
Friday and Saturday, February
23, 24 and 25. The course is to
help Joanne in designing a
curriculum guide with a commit-
tee of which she is chairperson for
the Huron -Perth System. Parent
representatives are Mary Craw-
ford and Teresa Courtney.
Steven Hickey won the school
checkers tournament for Juniors
and gained ten points for Saskat-
chewan in the House League
contest. Shawn Durnin Came
second and Casey Hendriks"third. --
In Intermediate basketball Tor-
onto won top •honours defeating
Edmonton two games straight.
Grade five and six basketball has
Toronto and Edmonton tied in top
position with Saskatchewan one
point behind. Toronto are league
leader.s ^in Grade Three and Four

Mr. Lloyd Barth -was a, special
speaker -at a. meeting on "Pornog-
raphy in the High Schools" in the
Kingsbridge Hall. Mr. Barth,101d
his audience that he was almost
ashamed to •say that he was a
teacher. At one time, he was
proud, having taught in both the
elementary and the high school,
but not now, although he is still a
member of the Teachers' Federa-
tion;
Mr. and Mrs. Dirk Logtenberg,
Kenny and Melissa returned
home home late Sunday after-
noon, February 26 following a 9
day vacation in Florida. They
visited with Dirk's parents Mr.
and Mrs. Jerry Logtenberg in
Palm Harbour, Florida and with
Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Rivett and the
Pentlands.
Plans are being, made for a
dance to be held at Brookside on
Saturday, March 4th for Mr. and
Mrs. Harold Menary who lost
their house and all their belong-
ings by fire on February 21st.
Household articles and clothing
for this needy family may be left
at the Dungannon United Church
Sunday. School Room, or with
Mrs. Dirk Logtenberg.

Mr. and Mrs. Ray Laidlaw and
family of Wingham visited at the
home of Mr. and Mrs, Hugh
Todd, along with Helen Todd,
Isabel Miller, Wilhelmine Ruther-
ford and Mr. and Mrs.. Wayne
Todd and family. The' gathering
was to help Helen Todd `celebrate
her birthday.
Miss Wilhelmine Rutherford
spent several days in. Wingham
Hospital. Get well wishes,are sent
to her.
Mr. Bill Humphrey spent a
couple of days with Mr. and Mrs.
Rick Humphrey of Clinton..

returned home after a 2 week visit
with the grandparents, Mr. and
Mrs. Ross Errington. The Con-
leys were vacationing in Florida.
