mother, Mrs. Frances Gillies, at
Huron Villa.
Today, Wednesday, Mrs. Belle
Henry is celebrating her 96th
'birthday at Huron . Villa. Ripley
and area folks wish Mrs. Henry a
Happy Birthday on this occasion.
Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Norman of
Kincardine head afirth ay party
for her brother, Tanner -Brooks of
Kincardine, last Sunday. Attend-
ing it from Ripley were Mrs. May
MacDonald, Mrs. Elva Needham,
Mrs. Marjorie Brooks, Mr. and
Mrs. Russ Brooks, and Mr. and
Mrs. Jim Books.
Mrs. Mynne Wyld is holidaying
with grandson randson and his wife,
Bill and Nina Wyld, and family,
on' concession 6 in Huron
Township.

Mrs.,. Beatrice Lockhart from
• near Barrie is visiting with her
sister, Mrs. Mabel Breckenridge.
Mrs. Norma MacLennan has
returned home from Toronto
where she was visiting with her
family.

Mr.. and Mrs. ,Bill Harris of
London visited with Mr,.and Mrs:
Clarence Greer in Lucknow last
weekend. Also they visited with
Mrs. Elizabeth Ferguson at the
Pinecrest Nursing Home on the
occasion of her 85th birthday.
Mrs. Harris and Mrs. Greer are
daughters of Mrs. Ferguson.Also
her son,. Donald Ferguson, of
Toronto was up for the family get
together on this happy occasion.
The Ferguson family home was
on Highway 86 - a block east of
Amberley in Ashfield Township,
Folks in, this area wish Mrs.
Ferguson a happy birthday at this
time. °
Bill and Wanda Harris have
just returned along with four
other couples, from ,a two week
vacation in Hawaii. One of the
four couples was Mrs and Mrs.
Ivan Walden of Stratford. Ivan is
formerly from Huron Township -
tenth concession west at Highway
21. They had an enjoyable holiday
together.
Bill reports that his brother
Huffy retired last October from
his position with the C.N.
Telegraph in Toronto. Four kers
retired at the • same time. So a
retirement party was held on
November 4 at the Town and
Country in Toronto. Attending
were his sister, Adeline, of
Kitchener, Bill and Wanda of
London, his cousin, Irwin Harris,
and, wife Irene of London, , Miss

Marion_ Munn of Toronto, also his
cousin, Lionel Munn, and wife,
Louise, of Toronto, Huffy's son,
David of St. Catharines, and
Toronto.

His son, Ronald, who is attending
Theological College in Philadel-
phia was unable to be present. At
present Huffy and his wife. Shirley
are at their villa in Naples, on the
Gull side 9f Florida. In the
summer hewill be in the Parry
Sound area at Harris Lake where
he will work in the real estate
business.. It sure does not seem
that long ago when Bill -and Huffy
- Anyway it was an exciting game
_ for the Ripley fan's who crammed
the rink to capacity that night 41
years ago this March. So Ripley
folks all wish Huffy and Shirley
well on his retirement.
Harris and Jack Bowers now of
Chesley were the first line on the
Ripley Junior hockey team. And
to that game in March 1937 when
the • Ripley team playing in the
Diamond Jubilee Arena„ now
gone, lost by one goal to the
Waterloo Juniors. The scores was
7 to 6 if we can recall correctly.
Just think the Waterloo boys went
on to become the mainstay of the
Boston Bruins for years the
Kraut line - Bobby Bauer, Porky
Dumart, and Milt Schmidt. Some-
one, who has followed hockey
more closely than this writer, said
that they were here that night.

Jack McLean of Ripley 're-ent-
ered Kincardine Hospital last
Friday evening for further treat-
ment.

On looking through old papers
at his home recently, Redvers
Johnson of Ripley came across a
copy of a 1928 Lucknow Sentinel
newspaper.

On Monday morning of this
week, Mrs. Judy Coiling called at
the house here to say that she was
on her way to Owen Sound
Hospital to pick up her husband

Ripley folks are glad to hear this.

with her daughter, Joyce McEw-
an of Kinloss, in Owen Sound
Hospital on Wednesday. Wishes
go to Joyce for improved health.

r Happy Hearts had a card party
,last Thursday afternoon in the
Ripley Huron Legion Hall. Prize
winners were Gladys Huston, and
Janet Needam, Lloyd Arnold and
Jim Kirkpatrick, and Mrs. Beat-
rice (Stephenson); ,Lockhart. Eve-
lyn Irvin played the piano and
Reg- Moore led in a sing song.
Prizes were donated by Marjorie
Reid, Margaret Blue and Reg
Moore. A very refreshing lunch
was served by the committee.
Mrs. Gladys Mason of Ripley
was a patient in University
Hospital, London last week. She
is recuperating at the home of her
daughter, Reta and son-in-law
Roy Webster in London.

strike which has the school

Bob and Agnes Bregnian
attended the convention of the
Association of Agricultural Soci-
eties held , in the Royal York
Hotel, .Toronto. on February 15
and 16.
Glenn England of Vancouver,
B.C.'spent last week at the home
of his parents, Mr. and " Mrs.
,Donald England, Kathy and Paul,
of R. R. 1 Lucknow. He was met
at the Toronto , Airport last
Saturday, `February 18 by his
parents and they spent the
weekend at the . home of his
brother, Mr. and Mrs. Terry
England, Brandi and Shannon, of
Toronto. After the week at home
he caught the bus for Toronto
Saturday morning to catch the
plane from. Toronto back to
Vancouver.
Wesley Young and Sandra and
Greg Gardner of Lucknow visited
on Friday with Mr. and Mrs.
Clifford Young.
The Whitechurch Presbyterian
Young People held .a snowmobile
party on Saturday afternoon with
lunch afterwards' in -the basement
of the Presbyterian Church.
