Ripley Minor Hockey News

TWQ Ripley teams entered
tournaments in Blyth on Saturday
and they both brought home the
top trophies.
Ili the Tyke division, it was
Ripley 5, Belgrave 2 in- the first
game. Todd Farrell sparked the
team with 4 goals, with Clint
Twolan getting the other marker.
Blair Scott, Stephen Keelan and
Darren Cook made the assists.
In the second game, it was
Ripley 4, Blyth 1. Clint Twolan
had 2 goals and 1 assist? Stephen
Keelan 1 goal and 3 aslists, and
Blair Scott scored the other goal,„
Todd Farrell had 2 assists.
• A trophy, awarded 'the most
valuable player of the two games,.
was -won by Todd Farrell. Clint
Twolan, as captain, accepted the
Tyke Tournament Trophy.
In the Atom "B" division of the
Blyth Tournament, Ripley beat
Clifford 2 - 1 in the first game,
and again doubled the sore 4 - 2
over Norininby, in the second
game. Johnny Forster won the
most valuable player award, and
Robbie Brooks accepted the Atom
"B" Tournament Trophy on
behalf of the team.
In Atom "A" play,, Ripley
• defeated Blyth 2 games straight
to eliminate them. The first game
was 4 2 for Ripley, with Todd
• Walden • scoring twice, Mitch
Twolan and Geoff Denstedt each
getting 1. goal and 1 assist. Matt
Dahmer, Danny Wood, Doug
Hawryly4liyn and Kent Lowry
made the assists.
The score in the second game
was Ripley 5, Blyth 1. Mitch
Twolan led the scoring with 3
goals and 1 assist. Todd Walden
• and Geoff Denstedt scored the
remaining goals. Assists ,went to
Kent Lowry and Robert Camp-
bell.
The Pee Wee "A" played
Tiverton to a 4 all tie. Eric vander

Glas scored from Larry Coiling for
the first goal of the game in the
second period. Tiverton retaliat-
ed, and Joe Nugent scored
unassisted, Larry Coiling took a
pass from Paul Harris, and then
Kevin Boyle scored from ' Gary
Rutledge and Terry Irwin. Tiver-
ton completed the scoring in the
third period, to tie the •game with
3 more goals.
The Pee Wee "A"s played
Lucknow, beating them 7 - 4.
Gary Rutledge scored the hat
trick and had 2 assists. Eric
vander Glas scored two goa1 and
1 assist, Kevin Boyle scored 1
goal and had 3 assists, and Mike
Moore scored the other tally.
Assists went to Kenny Elliott,
Shawn , Morrison, Paul Keelan,
Paul Harris and Shawn Morrison.
In another exhibition game, the
"A"s lost to Kincardine "A"
team 8 - 3. Terry Irwin, from
Larry Colling, scored the opening
goal. Kincardine got the next 1
goals, and Terry Irwin again
scored, unassisted. e oore
took a pass from—Joe N ent to
score the only Ripley :.4a1 in the
third period.

TiYerton, and came out on the
losing side of a 14-0 score. Better
luck next time, guys.
The Pee Wee "Et" team played
Tiverton, and lost 11 - 2. Dave
Murray scored unassisted, and
then scored the second Ripley
goal from Jeff _Elliott .and John
van Kooten.
John Wood and Murray Thom-
pson took the Atom"A" i.e.= to
a tournament in Southampton,
winning the first 2 games and
losing the third. They beat Owen
Sound 3 - 1, with Mitch Twolan
scoring twice and Todd Walden
getting the remaining goal. Matt
Dahmer, Kent Lowry, Danny
Wood and Doug Hawrylyshyn got
assists.
In the second game it was
Ripley 4, Harriston 3. Geoff
Denstedt scored the hat trick and
Todd Walden got the fourth goal.
Robert Campbell, Matt Dahmer,
Danny Wood, Mitch Twolan,
Kent Lowry,and Doug Hawrylysh-
yn got assists.
In the final game, it was
Chesley 3, Ripley 2, with Mitch
Twolan scoring the first goal from
Geoff Denstedt and Danny Wood.
Danny scored the second goal
from Todd Walden.
Lucknow
Bantams
Lucknow Bantams went down
to a 3-4 defeat in their final bid for
the W.O.A.A. Championship
against Milverton. This was a
very close game and series with a
one goal difference over all in our
favour, but not at the right time.
Scoring for Lucknow were Kent
Alton, Ed Davidson and Allan
• Rivett with assists going to Mike
Humphrey, John Hopf and David
Pritchard.
On Thursday, February 23, the
boys went ° to Wingham for an
exhibition game which Wingham
won 4-2. Scoring for Lucknow
were Allan Eadie and Kept Alton.
Two assists went to, Brian Taylor
while Ed Davidson got one.
• The team began Consolation
Championship play on Sunday in
• Seaforth and lost their first game.
8-6. Scoring for Lucknow were
Allan Rivett With 4, 2 unassisted,
and Allan Eadie with 2. Assists
went to Allan Rivett, Allan Eadie
and Kent Alton and David
