On Thursday, February 23rd,
the local Atoms, comprised
mostly of '1st year players,
travelled to Belgrave to play an
exhibition game. The final score
was Belgrave 7, Lucknow 3.
Chris Collyer led. the Lucknow.
scorers with 2 goals. Tommy
Gilmore had 1F goal and' 1 assist
with single assists going to Mark
Londry, Mike Murray and Donnie
Murray.
On Saturday, February 25th,
Lucknow traveled to Milverton to
play the 5th game in the
W.O.A.A. "DD", finals. After
tying the ' previous game 1-1,
Lucknow led the 6. point series 5
points to 3 and required only a tie
game to_ become the W.O.A.A.
"DD" champs.
After playing nearly 2 full
periods of scoreless hockey, Ross
final
Pickard scored the lone Lucknow
goal with assists going to Todd
Ritchie and crrent Murray. The
Milverton team came out strong
in the 3rd period and at the half
way, point.in the period scored to
tie the game.
From this time on both sides
played end to end hockey with key
saves being made by both
goalies.
With the , championship in
sight, the local lads waited as the
seconds tiered down and finally
the buzzer sounded to end the
game in a 1-1 tie, giving Lucknow
the W.O.A.A.. "DD" champion-
ship for the 2nd straight year.
The manager and coaches
would like to thank the players,
parents and spectators who
travelled to Milverton to watch
this deciding game.

House League Hockey
The first round of playoffs were
very close games. The first two
games ended with scores of 2-1
while the third game ended in a
1.1 tie and had to be settled by
penalty shots.
• Ed and Brent VanOsch each
scored once to lead the Leafs to"a
2-1 decisidn over the Canadiens in
the first game. „Robin Markein
scored for the Canadiens.
The Bruins defeated the Red
Wings 2-1 in the second game.
Colin Cameron and Steve Erring-
ton scored for the Bruins. Perrin
Dore scored the Red Wings'
single.
At the end' of regulation time
the Black Hawks and Rangers
were tied 1-1. David Atkinson and
Morris VanOsch scored for their
respective teams. The five first
line players for each time took 1
penalty shot. Wayne McDonagh
and . Jim Young scored for the
Black Hawks. Morris VanOsch
scored for the Rangers. The final
score was Black Hawks 3,
Rangers 2.
The 3" winners were the Leafs,
Bruins and B1aek Hawks. These
teams advance to the right on
your schedule. Moving left will be
the Canadiens, Red Wings and
Rangers. ,
Next week March 4th there is
no hockey in the houseleague
division-. M ,
The practice schedule for
Tuesday, March 7th is: 6:00 p.m.,
Leafs and Red Wings; 7:00 p.m.,
Bruins and "Rangers.
The second round of the
playoffs begins Saturday, March
11th. We will play only 2 games
but these will be entirely stop
time.
Game 1: 10:00 - .11:30 Red
Wings vs Rangers.
Game 2:` 11:30 - 1:00, Leafs vs
Bruins.

Lucknow Midgets _win
championship
On .February 23 Lucknow
Midgets travelled to Milverton
with their backs to the wall after
losing two straight at home, but
returned with a well deserved
victory.
After missing several 'good
chances to score, the line of Stem
Simpson, Larry MacPherson and
Kevin Clarke– stattettO click to
the tune of 9 out of the 14 scoring
points. It was a hard fought game
by both team_ s with the final goal
not scored until the last 14
seconds of the third period to lock
up the win.
Goals and assists went to Paul
Hamilton 1-1, Steve Simpson 3-1,
Steve MacPherson .1-1, Larry
MacPherson 2-1, Kevin Clarke 1
assist, Brad Humphrey 1 assist.
This set the , stage for the
championship game on Saturday
afternoon in Lucknow which was.
played before "a good crowd. It
was a see -saw battle with the_
score at 2-2 with Rod Havens
making some big saves in net and
steady work from the defence.
The hard checking and hitting

line of Randy Guay, Pat Boyle and
Steve Davidson showed their
scoring talents with each one 1'
getting a goad to move Lucknow
into the lead. Steve Simpson's
line was hot again getting 10, out
of the 18 scoring points to put the
game out of reach with an 8-2 lead
after the second period.
The third period was fast and
cleanly played with Milverton still
putting up a determined effort.
The final score . was 8-4 for
Lucknow, winning 'the W.O.A.A.
Double D championship.
The game was kept under
control' at all times/ by good
refereeing from Clarke Pollock
and Ross Forster.
Scoring for this game were Dan
Londry 1-1, Pat Boyle 1, Kevin
Clarke 2-1, Steve Davidson 1
goal. Steve Simpson 1-2, Randy
Guay 1-2, Larry- MacPherson 1-2,
Bob Hackett 1 assist.
The team will travel to Smith
ville Friday, March 3, 8.'30 p.m..
to start their next series. They
will play ° back in Lucknow
Sunday, March 5 at 3.30 p.m.

semi-final round.
Kintail and the Flying Dutch-
men iia11 play a consolation series.
Lancers +cliaich
second place
After losing their 4th ganie in a
row to Harriston on Wednesday
night, 5 - 4, the Lancers went into
Wingham on Saturday night and
let out all their frustrations.
Determined to win and take sole
possession of 2nd place, the
Lancers took to the ice and
completely controlled the game to
the very end. The 7 to 2 victory
over Wingham was a big lift
for the team as it will. , be
Wingham that the Lancers will
meet in the first round of playoffs.
In the 4 years that the Lucknow
Lancers have been in the O.H.A.,
this is the first year that they -
ended the season in 2nd place.
With the season over . the
Lancers are in very high spirits
and feel confident to put. the
Wingham Royals out. in the first
round 'of playoffs.
If the game Saturday night past
is any indication of the type of
hockey to be played in this
coming; series, then their is no
doubt that, you will get your
money's worth of good 'hockey
and lots of action.
The first game of playoffs will.
be Sunday., March 5 at 7.30 p.m.
in Lucknow. Best out of seven.
