The main topic of this, meeting
was Quilting. All members start-
ed their quiltirig sample. Junior
members are to make their
samples into pincushions. Senior
members may mount their sam-
ples in their record books.
DUNGANNON 3 4-H CLUB
The first /meeting was held at
the home of Mrs. Alma Black on
February 13 at 7.00 p.m. with 9
members present. The roll call
was answered with each member
telling "What 4-H means to
me".
The result of the election of
officers was as follows: president,
Patti Rising; treasurer, Donna
Freeman; secretary, Sharon Pol-
lock; press reporter, Janice
Pollock,
In preparation for hearing
M.P.P. Murray Gaunt at Carlow
on Monday night a discussion was
held on,the three levels of govern-
ment, federal, provincial and
municipal. Some members volun-
teered to take lunch to Monday
night's meeting. The leaders,
Mrs. Black and Joyce Dougherty,
went over the record books and
discussed with the girls what is
required in this club, the activit-
ies to be done and Achievement
Day. The next meeting will be
held 'at Mrs. Black's on February
27.'

Mr. and Mrs. Jack Scott were
dinner guests on Sunday with,Mr.
and Mrs. Bill Scott and family,
concession 4, Huron, it being .the
occasion of Bill and Bcirtha's 13th
wedding anniversary.
The Women's Institute card
•party on Tuesday evening was a
real Valentine fun night.. Seven
tables were in play and the high
lady's prize went to Mrs.' Cliff
Johnston. The high gent was Mr.
Jack Scott. The lady's Valentine
prize .went to Mrs. Ed Thompson
and the gent's prize went to Mr.
Jerry VanBeers. The .next card
party will be on Tuesday,
February ..28th. Everyone is
cordially invited.

card party at Kinloss Community
Centre on Thursday .night.
The Hplyrood Women's Insti-
tute-- will leet on Thursday.

visited on Friday evening with
Mrs. Roy Graham at Goderich.
Mr. and Mrs. Wilford Wall are
'enjoying a winter . holiday at
Orlando, Florida.
Sympathy is extended to Mrs.
Annie Robb and family in the
death of the" late* John Robb of
Lucknow (formerly of concession
10). The funeral Was on Monday
afternoon.
• Mr. Grant MacKay of Londono
visited with Mr, and Mrs. Alex
Percy during the _week.
A speedy recovery is wished for
Mrs.. Alex Percy who is a patient
inUniversity Hospital, London,
having undergone surgery.
Mr. and Mrs. William Halden-
by spent a couple of days during
the week, with Mr. and Mrs.
Norman Pry at Harriston. '
Glen Haldenby spent the
weekend at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Keith tC,e6lake at Kingarf
and helped Ross celebrate his

Lucknow Central Public Speaking champions were chosen on
Thursday, February 16 and they, with the two runners-up will
compete in. the Legion Public Speaking contest against champions
from area schools on Friday, February 24. Left to right, Brenda
Davies, grade 5, was Junior champion, speaking about "Three
Accidents in My Childhood"; Beth Gingrich, grade 8 was chosen
Senior runner-up, speaking about "Mentinonites"; Lynn Murray,
grade,6, was Junior runner-up, speaking on the topic, "Babysitthtg_
° the eighbour's Cat", and Dale Gilchrist, who was Senior
c ampion, spoke about "My Lffe".
