THE SCIENCE FAIR FOR
JUNIOR SCIENTISTS
On February 16, 1978 Ripley's
Annual Science Fair commenced
at 7.00 p.m. at Ripley District
School. The kids who entered did
a great amount of work with the
best project :r receiving awards.
The prizes wexd:.a trophy and
books for 1st and 2nd and' 3rd.
These are the winners:
Primary: ; 1st, Ricky Lamb
(Liquid to Solid); 2nd, Todd
Farrell and Gerry Meurs (Soap);
3rd, Karen Silverstone (Butter-
flies).
Junior: Rodney Sutton
(Cacti); 2nd Sta ey B iter (Pap-
er); 3rd, Lisa Harvey (Micro-
scope).
PUBLIC SPEAKING
The pupils in grades 4, 5, . 6
have been making speeches. The
teachers will be picking . the top
two in their class to go on to the
school contest on February 20,
1978 at 1.00 p.m. The parents are
welcome to come to this.
Three pupils will be picked to
go on to the Legion speaking at
the. Legion Hall, February' 23,
1978 at 7.30 p.m. Good Luck

FLOOR HOCKEY
At . Ripley we are half way
through the regular session' of
floor hockey with 'two leading
teams. Teams ' 6 . and 4 ' are
together with 10 ,points.

Congratulations to Dale Gil-
christ who won in , the senior
Public Speakers from a choice of
four other seniors last Thursday
evening at Lucknow Public
School. Brenda Davies of Luck -
now was the winner in the junior
class.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Allan
have returned home after enjoy-
ing a trip to South Padre Island in
Texas. From here they motored
through other parts of Texas and
went into Mexico.
Mr. and Mrs. Herb' Buckton
were dinner ,guests on Sunday
with Mr., and Mrs. Jim Morrison.
Visiting at her home with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dick
McQuillitt and Ron, is ' Linda
%McQuillin of Toronto.

Anderson of Waterford entertain-
ed in the Embassy 4Restaurant in
Kincardine tohonour 'their moth-
er, Mrs. W. J. Mackay on the
occasion of her 85th birthday.
Mrs. Mackay's grandchildren and
two great grandchildren were
present. All enjoyed a delicious
meal after which Mrs. Mackay cut
and served a candlelit birthday
cake which was a gift from her
granddaughter, Mrs. Anne Rock
of Kincardine. At the close of the
evening all wished their grand-
mother many more happy birth-
days. Mrs.Mackay. received
cards, flowers, gifts and good*,"

and Lisa returned to their home in
Upsala in Northern Ontario., after
visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Earl Elliott on the lath concession
east. They also visited Steven's
sisters Nancy and Joyce, Mr. and
Mrs. Paul Greenwood and family
of Ripley, Mr. and Mrs. ,Join
Farrell and family on the 10th
east. They also visited with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ellison
Hodgins and family at Kinloss.
Priscilla.Zipfel and friend, Miss
Uill, of Base Borden, visited on
the weekend with her parents and
sisters, Mr. and Mrs. Frank
Zipfel, Debbie and Shanda in
Ripley.
