February 14. with twenty ladies
present. .
Mrs. Glen Boyd led the worship
period. Scripture and comments.
were taken by Mrs, Bob Court-
ney, Mrs. Wayne Lowry, Mrs.
Bob Rutledge, Mrs. Leonard
Reid, and Mrs. Allan Farrell.
Prayer was led by Mrs. John
Ferguson. The Mission Study on
Caribbean Economics was well
presented by Mrs. Boyd.
Mrs. Jack Campbell presided,
due to the absence of Mrs.
Duncan Thorburn. Mrs. Bill Scott
read the minutes. Roll call was
answered with a product of the
Caribbean.
World Day of Prayer will be
held on Friday, March 3 at Bethel
Church. U.C.W. Presbyterial
meeting will be held in Port Elgin
on Monday, March 6.
The ladies had an opportunity
to quilt on the Women's Institute
°quilt for participaction lodge. A
social time was spent over lunch
provided by Mrs. Elmer Sme1t-
zer, Mrs. Leonard Courtney and
Mrs. Mac Boyd.

Women was held at the home of
Mrs. Ernest Snowden on Wed-
nesday afternoon, February 15th,
• with. 9members present.
.Mrs. E. Robinson had charge of
the meeting. . Mrs. . Stuart
Chamney read the scripture. Mrs.
' E. Robinsonand: Mrs. E. Snow-
den gave readings. Mrs. E.
Robinson took the theme, Open
Up Your. Heart. A reading
followed with prayer was given by
Mrs. E. Robinson. Mrs. R. Hanna
and Mrs. Mason gave readings.
The guest speaker, Mrs. C.
Wilkins, reported on the meeting
in Mitchell and how to cultivate a
Christian: heart,_:
Teresa Jefferson took up the
collection followed by prayer by
Mrs. E. Robinson. Mrs. R.
Jefferson took over the business.
Mrs. Robinson cl6sed the meet-
ing with prayer.

Kairshea Women's institute..
held the February meeting Thurs-
day, February 16th at the home of
Mrs. Harvey Houston. Mrs. Allan
MacDougall, 1st vice president,
presided in the absence of the
president, Mrs. Evian Keith. The
roll call, ;What school subject do
you consider most important, was
answered by 22.
The minutes were read by the
secretary, Mrs. Lloyd MacDoug-
all. A letter from Mrs. Clarence
Dymond, F.W.I.C. Vice Presid-
ent, was read to the meeting.
Mrs. Donald C. Maclntyre was
appointed to go to the Officers'
Conference in Waterloo, alter-
nate, Mrs. Allan • MacDougall.
Kairshea 'members will go to
Pinectest Manor February 23rd to
put: on entertainment for the
February birthdays of residents.
The scripture was read by Mrs.
Cliff Roulston. The topic for the
meeting, Education and Cultural
Affairs, was on the choice of
books used in English course in
our High Schools, by Mrs. Ira
Dickie. A discussion followed
bringing out some most interest-
ing points.

Bruce Presbytery meet at Port Elgin

Bruce. Presbytery, United
Church of Canada, met tit, Port
Elgin United Church Hall • on
Tuesday, February 7.
. ,Rev. James Stockton, chairman
of Presbytery opened the morning
session, with. prayer. The court
was. consituted by the chairman
and a busy agenda • followed.
There was a .good_ attendance for
the first meeting. of 1978 with 7 '
new members being introduced
and welcomed.
Rev. Ted Kersey, the represen-
tative from Hamilton Conference
was in attendance for the day.
Correspondence dealt with the
recommendation of the transfer of
12 ministers from various denom-
inations and other parts of the
world, to the United Church of
Canada. This was 'accepted. • A
sincere thank you was read from
Saugeen Reserve congregation
for' the White Gift monies that
purchased a new bus for them.
The four committee groups met
and then re -convened when
communication presentation to
Presbytery included two solos by
Mrs. Gladys Lilley.
Rev. Robert Putman gave a full
report on Congregational Life and
Work Conference held at Cedar
Glen last November.

Lucknow W.I. hold meeting

The Lucknow Women's Insti-
tute held their. Valentine meeting
on Tuesday, February 14th in the
assembly room.
Following grace a delicious
,dessert was served by the
hostesses, Mrs. Wilbur Brown,
Mrs. Ross Shiells and Mrs. W. F.
MacDonald.
The roll call, "Name a foreign
country and its capital", was
answered by .18 members and 6
visitors.
The minutes of the ,January
meeting and the treasurer's
report were read by the secretary -
treasurer, Mrs. Bert'' Gammie.
The president, Mrs, Mary
MacGillivray, welcomed the
guests and conducted the busi-
ness meeting.
Mrs. Armstrong Wilson' was
appointed. to attend the District
Director's meeting in Kinloss on
March the 28th and Mrs. Jack
Collinson will attend the Officers'
Convention at• Waterloo, May 2nd
to 4th.
It Was decided to give a
donation towards the purchaseof
toys for the Winghath and District
Hospital.
Mrs. Harvey Houston ;spoke
briefly on the value of sharing our
copies of Home and Country with
libraries, nursing homes and
suitable places of business where
they. may he_ available to, the
public.
Mrs. Wilbur Brown, convener
.of Citizenship and World Affairs,
preside5d over the program. Mrs.
.Van Staalduinen favoured us with
delightful solos, 'supplying her
own accompaniment•on the piano.
Mrs. Ross Shiells dealt with the
topic, "The life that serves lives
forever", in a very capable
manner, stressing the importance
of leaving our foot prints in the
sands of time.
A Valentine poem was read by.
Mrs. Raymond Leidy.
Our guest speaker was Mr.
Brian Markson from the" Coach -
House Travel Service, Goderich.

The Sunshine committee re-
ported a gift to, each of the 2
patients in the Kairshea room of
Wingham and District Hospital
on. Valentine Day.

Gerald Paul, who stressed there
is something missing and people
are seeking 'guidance.. .
All reports following entailed
much discussion. Mr. James
Courtney extended courtesies.
Rev. Robert Putman closed with
prayer.
Presbytery will meet. April 18,
in Southampton, with the annuak
communion service.
