John Siecker was transferred last week . from the Wingham Hospital to University Hospital, . London. Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Holmes of Lucan spent the weekend at Mr. and Mrs. Angus MacDonald's home. They were joined on Sunday by Mr. and Mrs, Eldon Emerson, Darlene, Sharon .and Brenda of St. Catharines, Mr. and Mrs, Doug MacDonald and family of Auburn, Jeff Taylor, Cheryl Haldenby, Mr. Gordon Millar and Trevor and Todd Millar of Waterloo,. ST. HELENS SNOWMOBILE . • CLUB RALLY The St.. Helens Snowmobile Club held their annual Poker Rally on February 12. The total number of registered drivers and riders was 154 on approximately 100 machines. After the 34 Mile- ride ileride the winners were: Merle Gunby, R. R. 1 Dungannon, winning $61.60; Marg Cranston, St. Helens, $46.20; Tom Broome, R. R. 2 Lucknow, $36.90; Fred Phillips, R. R. 2 Lucknow, $30.80; Ross Young, R. R. 3 Auburn $24.60; and Barb Aitchison, R. R. 2 Lucknow, $15.40. Prizes for the rally were distributed on a percentage basis. Other prizes which were donated were pres- ented upon returning to the St. Helens Hall: Prizes awarded through lucky draws were: Jim Johnston, a sweater donated by McGee Auto Electric. Wingham; Jim Bain, a sweater donated by Lyn Hoy Enterprises, Wingham; Bill MacDonald and Ron McGee each, 6 cans of oil donated by Nile Motors (Rick Parks), Nile; Carol Shaw and Roger Pentland each, 6 Bans of oil donated by Gord's. Sports, Goderich; Valerie Erring- ton and Glenn Patterson 'each, 6 cans of oil donated by Montgom- ery Service; Winghain; Elaine Errington, a scarf from Lynn Hoy Enterprises; and Gary Rodger, 3 cans of oil donated by Hamilton Fuels, Lucknow. . Tr"ail markers . were Allan Cranston, •Angus and Don Mac- Donald, Ross Errington, Wayne Todd, Jack Caesar, Bill Stewart and Terry Hodge. Check points were held at the homes of Bill Kinahan, Wayne Durnin and Jack Caesar. Registrations were attended to by Jack Caesar, Ross Errington and Gwen Caesar and the lunch counter was operated by Elaine Errington, Beth Aitchison, Helen MacDonald, Marie Stewart, Marg Cranston and Linda McNee. • Thanks is expressed for all prize donations, to participants and club members who made .this year's rally most successful. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Mewhin- ney were surprised when Mr. and Mrs. Murray Mewhinney of Peterborough, Mr. and Mrs. Doug Mewhinney of Milton, Mr. and Mrs. Bev Hunter of Stratford, Dave . Mewhinney and Miss Lennie--Masonof Kitchener, and Kathy of Lucknow spent the weekend with them. Holyrood The first meeting of the Holyrood 4-H club, Consider Your Clothes, was held Saturday,. Feburary 11, 1978 at the home of Mrs: Barb Gingrich. All -eight members were present. Our president is Wilma Duiker, our secretary is Michelle Edwards and Lea -Anne Haldenby is our press reporter. We opened our meeting with the 4-H pledge. Books and pamphlets were passed out to Clover Valley BY GAYLE MacKENZIE The second meeting of the Clover Valley Zany Zippers was held 'on Thursday, February 9th at the home of Mrs. Joyce Elphick. All members answered the roll call which was-, bring a picture of a garment which is attractive to you and point out' the line that makes it becoming to you. Diane Gibson read the minutes of the last , meeting and we decided to h old our next meeting on Thursday, February 16th at 7.00 at Mrs. Joyce Elphick's. After a choice of several names we decided to call ourselves the Clover Valley Zany. Zippers but since no one: had thought of an idea for the covers we decided to leave it to the next meeting. The. treasurer gave the report and the president turned the meeting over to the leaders. The leaders talked to us about colour in clothing and' what it does for your looks. We discussed things you should have in your sewing box and. how to select fabric for your blouse, and selecting..your notions. The lead- ers also showed " us how to straighten you fabric. We each tried to find colours that would be becoming to our figures and personalities. each member and requirements were discussed by our leaders, Mrs. Stanley and Mrs. Gingrich. Mrs. Gingrich read over meeting one, explaining line plus body type. Measurements were taken and figure types were determin- ed. The home assignment for next week was discussed. Further. suggestions on figure types and lines for' illusion were read " by Mrs. Gingrich. We closed our meeting with the 4-H motto.- Kairshea Klothes-Kloset The third meeting of the Kairshea Klothes Kloset was held at the home of Mrs. Alice Doelman on February 10, 1978 at 4.30 p.m. It opened with the " pledge. The roll call was answer-• ed_ by nine members. Karen Doelman, president, asked. Molly McBride to read the minutes of the last meeting. We decided on our next meeting. It will be February 17, 1978 at the home of Mrs. Irene Dickie at 4.30 p.m. Karen turned the meeting over to Mrs. Dickie who discussed "Wardrobe Building"., .Mrs. Doelman showed how to alternate our patterns. Mrs. Dickie showed how to get our material ready. The meeting was closed with the motto. Silver Lake The second meeting of the Silver Lake 4-H club was held on February 2, at the Kinloss Community Centre. Dianne Bush- ell read the minutes of the last meeting. We chose the name Classy Closets, for our club. Valerie Stanley and Susan Hedley demonstrated how to 'choose a colour which compliments your complexion. Material, wovens and knits, were discussed. •
