• On February 6 in Milverton the
Lucknow Midgets won their first
playoff game 6-4 in the best of of
a 3 game series.
Goals for Lucknow were as
follows: Paul Hamilton, Larry
MacPherson, 2; Steve Simpson,

phrey. Assists: Steve Simpson,

Lancers edge by Saints

On Sunday, February 5, St.
Clements Saints came to Lucknow
for their second meeting of the,
year with the Lancers. Goal
tender Jim Frayne faced more
than 30 shots, including a second
period penalty shot on which he
came up with a good save.
St. Clements scored the first
goal of the game in a first period
that saw a lot of close checking
and not many shots on net.
The second period saw" Luck-
now jump into a 2-1 lead on a goal
by John Emberlin from Graham
Hamilton and, Carl Stanley, and
secondly an unassisted goal by
Ian' Montgomery.
The Lancers took a 3-1 lead
early in the third period on a goal
by Jim Murray from Graham
Hamilton and Carl Stanley. The
St. Clements team put on a burst
in the third period and in the
space of 12 seconds had tied the
score.
The two teams settled in to play
hockey and the rest of the game
was full of good plays _and good_
saves by both goalies.
The game was still tied at the
end of regulation dine and the
• two teams went into a 10 minute
sudden death overtime, With only
1 minute, 54 seconds left in the
period, Jim Murray took a pass
from John Emberlin and Carl
Stanley, and "slid the puck past
the Saints goalie to give Lucknow
the win.

On Wednesday, February lst,
e local Atoms travelled to
Belgrave for an exhibition game.
The final score of the game was
Belgrave 5, Lucknow 1. Scoring
cc the . lone Lucknow goal was
Tommy 'Gilmore with Ross Pick-
ard and Chad Mann getting
assists.
On Friday, February 3rd, the
Atoms travelled to Mildmay and
came home victorious by a. 6-0
score. Goal scorers for the
Lucknow squad were. Todd Rit-
chie 2 goals, 1 assist; Grant
Murray 1 goal, 1' assist; Tommy
.Gilmore 1 goal; Chris Irwin 1
goal, 1 assist; Chris C _yer 1
goal, 1 assist with Brian De
Groote and Bradley Priestap
getting 2 assists each. Single
assists went to Alex West, John
D. MacKenzie, Richard MacDon-
ald and Steve- . Hamilton. Todd
Scharlach and Danny $ D lchrist
shared the goal tending duties.
Playing their 3rd game in 4
days the lads beat the strong
Ripley team in Ripley arena on
Saturday, February 4th by. a 5-1
score. Grant Murray -led the
Lucknow scoring getting 3 goals
and 2 assists:. Todd Ritchie
contributed 2 goals and 3 assists.
Brian De Groote and Richard
MacDonald each got 2 assists.
Geoff Denstedt scored the lone
Ripley goal .with an assist going to
Mitch Twolen.
Danny Gilchrist played the
whole game for Lucknow and
despite constant pressure by the
Ripley squad held therm to 1 goal.
On Monday, February 6th,
Lucknow; played host to , the
Milverton Atoms in the first game
in the W.O.A.A. "DD." Atom
finals. The final score of the game
was Milverton • 3, Lucknow 2.
Scoring for Lucknow were Todd
Ritchie 1 goal, 1 assist; Alex West
1 goal with 1 assist: going to
Richard MacDonald, Brian , De
Groote and Grant Murray.
This was the first game .in the
best 3 out of 5 series. Lucknow
now has the task of winning at.
least one of the next 2 games,
both being played in Milverton to
force another home game here.
