VANCE MENARY
Vance Menary died in West-
minister Hospital, London on
Friday, January 20, 1978 in his
_74th year. A`resident of Westmin-
ister Hospital, he served in World
War II. He Svcs born in
Kincardine on June 16, 1904, ,the
son of the late William. Menary
and Jessie Phillips, both of
Ashfield.
He is survived by a sister,
Louisa, Mrs. Manson Reid,
Lucknow, and brothers, Hugh,
Ashfield, Livingston, Ashfield,
Phillips, West Wawanosh, and
RODERICK MacDONALD
Roderick MacDonald .of Chas-
ka,
haska, Minnesota, formerly of Ash-
field, died on January 14, 1978 at
the age of 90 years.
Born in Ashfield Township,
near Lochalsh., he was the last
member of a family of five sisters
and six brothers. His nephews,
Finlay and David MacDonald still.,
reside on the family farms.
Roderick left this area in 1906
for -the western states and has
made his home in Minnesota for
the last several years,. where he
was employed in the sugar beet
industry.
Predeceased by his first wife
Esther, he is survived by his wife,
Frances, of Chaska, Minnesota; .
daughters, Mrs. Douglas Bade,
(Catherine), Chaska; Mrs. How-
ard' Huelster, (Mary Anne), St.
Paul; and son Roderick Il of Des
Moines, Iowa; twelve grandchild-
ren and four great grandchildren.
The interment was in Zoar
Moravian Cemetery, followed by
a Memorial Service in Chaska
Moravian •Church.
David MacDonald of Lochalsh
attended the funeral and , played
the pipes at the graveside and at
the Memorial Service.

The funeral was held from the
MacKenzie -McCreath Funeral
Home on January- 23 at 2 p.m.
Rev. Doug _.Kaufman officiated
with Mrs. Thomas Pritchard as
organist.
Temporary entombment fol-
lowed in South Kinloss Mauso-
leum with burial in the spring in
Greenhill Cemetery.

Due to - the poor weather
conditions, the game between
Lucknow and Teeswater, on
January 27th was cancelled.
On Sunday, January 29th, the
local team plus a number of
parents boarded a bus and
travelled to London where the
lads played against the Red Circle
Selects of London at - the Argyle
Arena. The final score of the
game was London 4, Lucknow 2.
Scoring for Lucknow were
Grant Murray 1 goal, 1 assist;
Alex West, 1 goal, and Brian de
Groote, Todd Ritchie and Richard
MacDonald each getting 1. assist.
A rematch between these two
teams has been 'scheduled for
Saturday, February 11th at 4.30
13.m. in the local arena.
On Monday, January 30th
Lucknow played host to the
Teeswater Atoms and• skated
away with a 9-0 win. Scoring for
Lucknow were Alex West 4 goals,
2 assists; Todd Ritchie 2 goals, 2
assists; Grant. Murray 1 goal, 5
assists, with Mark Londry and
Billy Card getting 1 goal each.
John D. MacKenzie, Mike Mur-
ray, Donnie Murray and Ricky
Bechard each had 1 assist.
Todd Scharlach and Danny
Gilchrist shared the goaltending
duties ,,and bot ,played a strong
game.
Correction:
A pallbearer in the Nelson
Culbert obituary was incorrectly
identified in last week's Sentinel.
Benson Errington should have
been Benson Finnigan. • The
Sentinel is sorry for the -error.
