for the llth annual meeting of
Huron Perth Presbyterial United
Church W nen held in Main
Street UnitEd Church', Mitchell on
January 24, 1978,
Nearly 400 members attended
the annual who were welcomed
by the president, Mrs. L. Strong,
Edmondville :and greetings from
Mrs. Ruth Beard, ` Mitchell after
, an opening worship by Thames -
'view U.C.W-with an informative
skit.
Mrs. Marion Anderson 2nd
vice president of London Confer-
ence U.C.W. brought greetings
remarking that if there is a. need
in the comm unity the U.C.W. 'is
there helping whether a sad or
happy occasion. Witness and
fellowship unite women of the
congregation to._ unite in Jesus
Christ -to "Serve in' Faith". -
A Book 'Commercial was pres-
ented by Mrs. M. Pridham.. Mr.
L. Tilley of Canec United Church.
Publishing House; Toronto had
an excellent supply of books
related to programs and worship
to be purchased. Also the
Resoprce Centre, Mitchell, gave
their aassistance.
Let's' Build a House, based on
Psalm 127:.. 1, "If the Lord does
not build the house, the work of -
the builders is useless".

used this method to hve a house

report was read of the year's.work
of Stewardship., Christian Devel-
opment, Leadership Develop-
ment, Church in Society, World
Outreach, Communications and
•In -Church Services. The reports
- resulted in many activities from
Bible . and Mission •Study, Wor-
ship, Dedication arid Serviceto
others, Sharing of our Talents,
Social duties. in the Church and
Community.
Reports included a wonderful
year's work. and let us Pray to
'continue working together.
During the October Regional
Rallies, workshops were held and
much enthusiasm was expressed
in receiving a Spiritual renewal
and also knowledge of the revised
Guidelines, .
Youth Concerns was well
presented by Mr. Dan Smythe, of
London. It is a vital Christian
concern to know about Alcohol
and Drugs that present problems
to our Youth. ' He spoke on
prevention by studying the prob-
lems. Toc Alpha held one of its
most successful years. A motto
for pre-teeners is to get along but
don't go along.
Rev. M. Boulger, Monkton,
had a panel question and answer
period on "Indian concerns of
To -day". The discussion was

the theme used by the afternoon
speaker, Mrs. Jean Eaton, Staffa.
She and her husband had been on
a mission in India and Bangledish
and . spoke of many incidents
while there. If we teach about;.
Jesus, read the Bible daily in our
homes,, we realize the role of
Jesus in our daily lives, then we
also have Christ as the foundation
of each of our lives.
They found people in , other
countries to be very courteous.. No
man, no church is exclusive of
God.
We here in Canada should be
joyful as we aresurrounded with
all types of convenience.. In other
countries, they do not have so
many conveniences but seem to
be happy.
A solo "God hath not Promis-
ed" was sung by Mrs. `Luella
Nash of St. Marys.
Feelings of gratitude were
expressed by president, Mrs. L.
Strong for the excellent work of
her executive and all the United
Church Women during the past
two years.
Closing comments were made
by Mrs. Doris Zurbrigg, presid-
ent for 1978and gave us this
thought "God thinks of you each
as a pearl of great price":

The annual meeting of the
Auxiliary to the Wingham and
District Hospital was held in the
R.N.A. Training Centre on Mon-
day, January 23rd at 1 p.m. Mrs.
Jack Alexander gave the grace
and a delicious -pot iuck luncheon
was enjoyed by all present.
Following the luncheon Mrs.
Ross Proctor opened the meeting
with the Auxiliary Prayer. Mrs.
John Gnay read the minutes of
the November meeting.
The anntial reports were then
presented; the .secretary in her
report 'stated that the Auxiliary
purchased a Life Pack 4 for the
Wingham and District Hospital.
Mrs. George Michie for the
Cancer Clinic reported 23 clinics
were held during 1977 with 746
consultations. This does not mean
746 different persons attended as
manyof the patients attend
several clinics during . the year:
There are 28 volunteers working
on rotation 'in the different de-
partments. This is the only
Auxiliary iri this area servicing a
Cancer Clinic so ,we feel it is a
very worthwhile project. Mrs.
Michie would like . to : 'thank all
those who help in any way.
Mrs. Ross Hamilton reported
for the Gift Case and: would like to
thank all those who work at the
case • ,'and all ' who spend many
hours knitting baby outfits, mitts,

Mrs. W. A. McKibbon gave the
report for the Marathon Hospital
Bridge and stated the final night
for this seasons play will The May
8th at the Wingham Armouries. ,
Mrs. T. Currie gave her report as
Historian. .
Eleven sets of tray favors were
made one, hundred each time,
these are for the enjoyment of the
patients, also for those who
receive Meals on Wheels; who
have particularly appreciated our
efforts. Mrs. Don Vair gave. this
report.
Mrs. James Wilson reported
for the Social Committee. The .
corresponding secretary, Mrs.
Leonard Phillips, gave her report.
The treasurers report was given
by Mrs. Proctor in the absence of
Mrs. Wilfrid Caslick.
• Mrs. D. Cohnell reported for
the Candy Stripers which is a very
helpful volunteer program, this
past year fifteen teenagers partic-
ipted, at present there are seven
active. members.
The report of the nominating
committee was » read by Mrs.
Phillips. Mrs. Robert Ritter then

The second meeting of the
Y-c's was held at the home of
Mrs. Arm Nicolson on Wednes-
day, January 25th at 8.00 p.m.
Plans for the dance on the 27th
of January were made.
A second'dance is to be held on
February 24th at the Holyrood
Hall.
The possibility of, performing a
skit on March 17th was discussed.
