Township are hoping for the best.
for Deb Wilson who went into
hospital in ' Buena Park in
California - when _ the Ontario
Massed Legion Pipes and Drums
went. to Pasedena..Mr. and Mrs.
Delbert Wilson went along with
the Kincardine group and band.
While there, Deb suffered 'a heart
attack. After he gets outs, he will
spend a week before they attempt
to fly back. The local American
Legion got accommodation for, his
wife, Maithel, to stay there.
Kincardine band members and
well known for his . work at
Kincardine Hospital, Norm
Dunsmoor, furnishes the address
for anyone wanting to send cards.

ock McDonald is slowly recover=
ing from a heart attack suffered
over a week ago. Murdock is in
intensive care in Kincardine and
District Hospital. As everyone
here knows Murdock has been the
obliging caretaker at b th the

Ripley , and is miss .,, Also in

This Week in Ripley
10, east of Ripley between the
eighth ,and . sixth concession, was
a . caller in Ripley last Friday
afternoon. Bob is spending the
winter iv the .Neustadt area with
his daughter..
Also away from Ripley since
Christmas is Johnny MacKay. At
that time Johnny went to Detroit
for the season's vacation.
Word has been received by
Mrs. James Anderson of Kincard-
ine that her brother and his wife,'
Mr. and.Mrs. E. 0. Forrester of
Malcolm 'Street in Ripley have
reached their destination in sunny
California. They plan on a ' three
month stay visiting with their son,
Glen, atplorgan Hill, a suburb of
San Francisco. Their daughter
will fly out. Qssie was able to
average about 450 miles a day.
They just got out of Ripley ahead
.of that big snow storm on Monday
and Tuesday, January 9 and 10.
But .. having to cross through it
they had rough driving -conditions
for a couple, of days. Back in the
late thirties' Glen Forrester start-

Starting early in the morning at
eight o'clock next Saturday,
January 25, Bob Scott of _the 4th
concession reports that the Ripley
and District. Lions Club are
sponsoring their annual Midget
hockey tournament with eight
teams competing. They are
Ripley, Belgrave, Paisley, Blyth,
Lucknow, Milverton, Howick,
and IIensall. Roast beef dinners
will be served in the auditorium of
the complex for two fifty a plate.
Tickets are availableat two and
one dollars from any ' ,Lion's
member. There will be a lucky
draw for 100 dollars cash.
"Turn about is fair play" . So
maybe Israel should try putting
pressure on U.S. to withdraw
from Panama -for ' a change in
world affairs.
Mr. and Mrs. Wray Osborne of
the 15th north of Ripley visited
friends in the •Maritimes last
summer. • Wray reports meeting
with Kenny. McLay of Halifax.
Kenny who was raised . in the,.
present home.. of. Mr., and Mrs.
Wilfred Gamble in Ripley, was
asking about different 'people
here. Kenny is now retired from

sailing. He has a brother, D.A.
estate business. • . who is a retired Toronto school

Brian MacDonald, eldest son of
Kenny and - Marj MacDonald of
Ripley who has been with the
Ontario Hydro in Woodstock, has
'received a transfer. Last week
Brian moved to Fraserdale, which
is a station on the . Ontario
Northland Railroad between -
Cochrane and Moosonee. Fraser -
dale is know to brothers, Jerry
'Huber of Ripley and Sim Huber of
Lurgan, as one of the towns from
which they take to the bush when
moose hunting in deep Northern
Ontario: Brian will be missed on
Ripley streets on Sunday after-
noons giving the kids rides with
his horse and' cutter.,;:
. The annual meeting of the
ladies 'of, the Ripley and District
Horticultural Society was held
last Tuesday afternoon, January
17, at the home of Mrs. Clara
(Stewart) Shiells in the west end
of Ripley. There was tea." good
attendance with approximately_25
members there. Mrs. Edith Smith
of the 15th north who has been
secretary for several years retired
from the position.

coming year is president, Mrs.
Ewan' MacLean of Lochalsh; vice
presidents, Mrs. Reg Godfrey'
and Miss Christena Robertson,
both of Ripley; secretary, Mrs.
Mervyn Hooey and treasurer,
Mrs. -Duncan D. - McLeod, also
both ,of the village here.
The Huron Bruce Arts and
Crafts Incorporated have already
made their plans for another big
Festival Show to be held ' on the
last two days rn July in the Ripley
Huron Community Recreation
Complex Centre. Mrs. Marion
McCharles of ' Lochalsh reports.

rented display stalls for the event.

conversation Last week upstreet
with Gary Blackwell of Kamloops,
British Columbia, whom he had
not seen since they forked grain
sheaves together back in 1952.
Gary is here 'visiting with his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley
Blackwell on their home farm and
with his brother Bob, ,wife and
family on the farm of the late Shirl
Bowers - both places on the 4th
.concession of Huron .Township.

Last; week Lloyd Ackert of
Holyrood became chairman of the
Bruce County Board of Education
at the meeting in Chesley. Last
year the chairman was Cameron
MacAuley. -Both live on the 8th
concession, Cameron in Huron
east of Ripley and . Lloyd in
Kinloss east.
