thrown up by the Leavers. With ten
'seconds of regular play lett Murney

shot front defenceman's head into
the **forth goal.
Elwood Robinson salted the game
away for the Sailors with a perfect
angle shot from lett boards in the first
half of the overtime period The '
Sailors then sat back for the remain-
der of the game and successfully de-
fended tbeir lead.
The first period Was scoreless, al-
though not lacking 1n thrill!. and Doak
in goal gave a perfect performance.
Harvey Stoddart, borrowed from the
Juniors for the game, played his de-
fence poitlon strongly.
Eight seconds of the second period
had elapsed when Holmes pushed one
past Doak. "Skipper" MacDonald
snared the puck from a scramble un-
der Doak's nose a few minutes later
and left the Beavers flat-footed in
Goderich territory. Steins and Scrim-
geour broke with MacDonald, who
skirted the defence and tied the score
with a low angle .bot while the Beav-
er defence covered an expected pass
that did not materfallse•

the Gravers a 2-1 lead in the opening King Pins

Seaforth Beavers Are Defeaied-

Brief Donnybrook
One of the fastest and best all-round
games of hockey seen on local ice in
recent years, and undoubtedly the best
of this season, was played on Monday
night when the Sailors defeated the
Seaforth Beavers 3-2 in an overtime
battle. The game was marred some-
what, although to some of the more
"'rabid fans it was brought to the' peak
of perfection, by a veritable Donny-
brook staged about haft -way through
the third period. Don. McKay, Sailor
wtngman, and G. Rennie, of the visit-
ing team, got into a scrap, and soon
other players and a number of spec-
tators joined in the fray. Referee
Thorndyke dashed among the strug-
gling players, and with the assistance
of a few level -beaded spectators the
writhing mess of players was separ-
ated, while McKay and Rennie were

games have been played, and Bruce

Buechler has tied one, Powell lost
one and Urtello lost two.
Bruce Bloomfield was outstanding In
Saturday's games and accounted for a
large part of the score of 10-6 against
Costello. Walter Doak, kid brother of
2
Harold of the intermediates and Ar-
nold and Elwyn of the juniors, also
showed considerable class.
Billy Bradley defeated Charles Pow-
ell 7-1 Saturday. Altbough Bradley
had the better of the play as a whole,
Powell's team had their moments One
member of Powell's team, Wilfred
Greenwood, a rugged little defencemaa,
In hie grim earnestness laid the cap-
tain of the opposing team out cold with
a stiff bodycheck. Greenwood didn't

boards, however and was given a tsw

CLLNTON 16-GODERiCH
Clinton Blues further cinched their
position at the top of the tntermedljite
O.H.A. ladder on Friday last when
they defeated the Goderich Sailors
10-0, on Clinton lee, for a fifth straight
win. It was the first time In years
such a wide gap had come between
tbese t'wo -ntd rtvats; bnt the Bhaes
were In perfect form on Friday night
and were unbeatable. Every play
clicked, every peas was completed,
with the result that the Sailors were
completely demoralized. Almost every-
one on the Atnton team succeeded In
getting at least one pest Doak through
the wide-open outer guard. It wavy
a sad experience that is liable to hap-
pen to any teem.
IN THE CHURCH LEAGUE
The Presbyterians wb(tewashed the
8t. Peter's sextet to the tune of 60
Ina game on Wednesday night in the
Ygw -orgenised chaec6 hockey 1eaghe.
The Presbyterians have a classy group
of players with an extra line to fall
back on, wbereas the 8t. Peter's team
were all sixty -minute men, there being
no alternates- The game was in
charge of G. Worthy.
It was the second game In the league,
the United churches having fought out
a close game last week, when North
street defeated Victoria street 2-1.
It has been practically impossible to
draw up a schedule for tbe church
teams, as there are so many leagues
operating in town- The best the church
league can do is to take any open
evening *reliable.
