In accordance with the recommen-
dation of the executive (ommittee, the
eatery bylaw increased the salaries of
J. M. Roberts, clerk, and A. H. Erskine,
treasurer. to $1,000 each. 1n making
the recommendation, the executive com-
mittee pointed out that these oaken
would, under the new regulations, lose
the remuneration tormeriy received in
connection with the administration of
ofd -age pensions and mothers' allow-
ances. The salaries of the clerk and
treasurer were formerly $1,200 and

On Thursday EL T. "dotards, soper-

addressed the council with reference
to the work of tbe Society. He re-
ferred to new regulations passed by
tbe Department of Public Welfare

Shelter.
The council was loth to undertake
the further expenditures and passed
a motion asking the Department to
exempt Huron county from the new

Huron county council in session last
week refused to sign an agreement
to pay ninety per cent. of the stu-
