The message that the people of this area were not in favor of the options presented by the District Health Council should have been made quite clear from the support both in Lucknow and Wingham at the Meetings last week. The Lucknow United Church Sunday School presented their program "Would It Still Be Christmas?" on Sunday morning at the regular ser- vice. Murray Montgomery, son of Ian Lucknow and Jean, had the honor of playing the part of Baby Jesus in the manger. All enjoyed lunch and a visit from Santa Claus to con- clude the activities. The Monday pre- kindergarten and kinder- garten classes invited their parents and grandparents to their Christmas pro- gram at 11 a.m. Monday morning. Winning shoot players at the Drop in Centre last week included Ross Errington, Joe Courtney, Teresa Courtney, Vivian Hogan and Mamie Roulston. CGIT present vesper service Lucknow CGIT pre- sented the, Christmas Vesper Service, "Celebrating the Gifts. of Christmas." Dale Gilchrist was organist and the United Church choir par- ticipated. Leaders during the service were Doreen Mali, Virginia Todd and Kim Harper. The nativity scene was portrayed by members of the Explorer group; Karolyn Doiron, Shari MacDonald, Melanie Elphick, Theresa Symes, Loretta Weber, Stephanie McLean, and helping out as a shepherd, Lesley Morrison. Skits were done by Lindsey Raymond, Virginia Todd, Jessica Sterner and Lee Morrison with leader Kim Harper who also did the candle - lighting. As part of the oftering, gifts of warmth, knowledge, food, creativi- ty, hospitality and caring for the earth were present- ed. The Light of Christ was passed to everyone and all joined in singing Silent Night. WI meeting held at River Valley by Elaine Errington St. Helen's WI held their Christmas meeting at River Valley Apartments last week. Helen Todd was hostess. Grace was sung and 11 members and one guest enjoyed a bountiful, pot luck dinner. Elaine Errington had the topic and she invited Tracy Meurs who capably demonstrated how to make a swag on a scented broom. The results were beautiful. It looked very easy to see Tracy make a bow. I'm sure we would be all thumbs. The Ode and Mary Stewart was repeated. Rollcall was to Bring a stamped greeting card, Florence McConnell read the November min- utes and Norma Raynard gave the treasurers report. Business was discussed consisting of catering to Lions Club Jan. 13 which we will do with group five in charge. The closing of Wingham Hospital was discussed and all were urged to attend the meet- ings. Several names were .given to send flowers, ,cards and treats to before Christmas. We had a sing song of several Christmas carols with Norma Raynard at the piano. Elaine Errington gave a reading "I am a Christmas Tree." The Christmas gift exchange took place with each showing their gift. Luba Strutton and Florence McConnell assisted the hostess.
