84 suggestions
to reduce costs

Looking for ways to improve el iency and
reduce. costs resulted in 84 suggestions for a special
committee of the Bruce county hoard of education
tO review.
Tlie'ideas cover fundraising, building nlair►te
nance,• transportation, budgets, dgets, and ways to share
resources. They range from turning down the Ther=
nwstat and Swapping equipu)ent among schools to
the more controversial suggestion of year-round
schooling to increase efficient use of facilities., -

service clubs, and more use.. of the expertise offend

All but 10 of the ideas were aliproved by the
COrmmittee and sent to the hoard for further investi-
gation. Most of the ideas that were reflected would

schools in competition with private business.
"We don't want to infringe on private enterprise.,"
