For many of us, when we think of a sports team we think of baseball or hock- ey or something of that nature. Cheer leading doesn't usually spring to mind. For many years cheer leading wasn't rec- ognized as a team sport, but over the years the typical "rah -rah" cheer- leader has been trans- formed into a powerful athlete. Stunting has hecome. an essential part of a competition routine meaning, more than ever, safety is of primary con- cern for all team mem- hers. Recently 'the 1, E. Madill cheerleader', were asked to participate in the All-Star assembly at the Lucknow CentralPuhlic School. I'he students were addressed on team To the 1 editor J work and the importance. of respect, responsibility and helpfulness. We were thrilled not only to he asked to par- ticipate in such an impor- tant lesson but also to be recognized as a real team. It was extremely rewarding to perform for such an enthusiastic and supportive audience. We hope that we demonstrated how important team work is for us and for everyday life. We would like to thank the Lucknow Central Public School for their generous donation to Our team. Your support is greatly appreciated. In our eyes you are definite "Stars!" Madill Cheerleaders Kien Snowden and Dianne !loss (Coaches). Loretta Weber is shown here with the entries in the Optimists' pump- kin carving event'on Saturday.
