mended by the Huron
County Fire Chiefs
Association and con-
• firmed by the Ontario
Fire MarshaWs Office,
fill a voki which has
existed since former co-
ordinator Clinton Fire
Chief Dean Reid
resigned May 1.
Gaunt said one of the
most serious repercus-
sions of not having a
coordinator has been that
tithe Mutual Aid
• Association has not been
represented at meetings
aimed at setting up a 911
emergency service for
the county since last
May. Also, there have
been no mutual aid
reports completed since
that tirne.
Paid, position -.
The coordinator's pri-
mary role is ensuring fire
-coverage .is in place
when fire departments
are called out of their
own municipalities on
Mutual Aid calls.
Reid resignation was
prompted by an increase
in paperwork involved in
the formerly unpaid posi-
tion, to which he no
longer felt he could do
justice,
Huron County munici-
palities recently ratified a
funding formula which
would allow them to split
the cost of the coordina-
tor's stipend.

County is in danger of
if volunteers
can't be found.
Organizers say lack of
people to help out at
events is a 'Major' con-
' cern.
Child Find regularly
holds "Kid Checks" in
Huron for parents to fin-
gerprint and their
,.,children. In case they
ever go missing, the
information can help
police in relocating them.
