Farmers in the area
took the next step in
helping develop a new
long-term plan for the
County of Huron last
Thursday.
Twu dozen county res-
idents, all . with a vested
interest in agriculture,
met at the Ooderich
Township Hall in
Holmesviile Oct. 3 fore:
the second in a series of
workshops designed to
give farmers a say in
what the new county plan
will contain.
The working .meet-
ings, sponsored by the
Huron Federation of
Agriculture, are facilitat-
ed by membersof the
County Planning and
Development
Department Thursday's
meeting, the second of
three being held in differ-
ent ;parts of the county
over . the next two.
months, allowed local
farmers •too review the
policies+formulated at the
first meeting held in
Belgrave in September.

goals and visions were
identified and noted and

protecting prime agricul-
tural areas, seeking and
maintaining an agricul-
tural diversity, property
rights and separation dies-
tames between farm land
and industry.

A draft policy docu-
ment is expected to be
completed by the end of
the year, Caldwell
explained. From that
point,: the document will
be circulated for further
public feedbackand�will
eventually find its way to
'county council for
approval. Caldwell said a
completed document is
probably seven or eight
months away,
