some relief from
high interest rates and low, prices. +'
Whelan told farmers, attending a meeting in Port
Elgin, that. Ottawa, must find more sources of aid to.
hard hit farmers. He suggested loans from foreign

countries and long temi mortgages at low rates of
interest and the first few years being interest free.
The agriculture minister also said he was unhappy`
about The announced increase in the federal govern-
ment's Farm Credit Corporation loin rate to. 16.75
percent from 14 percent. Whelan promised help` is on
the way saying "We're; working on ways to find solu-
tions to the farmer's plight" .
