in Walkerton court on

and theft.

„when a woman leaving a
Rose Street residence

that night and broke into
k garage, attached to a
house, where he stole a
quantity of meat out of a

ed and took police to
where he had dropped
the meat..
"His story to us," said
Burgess, "was that he.
was receiving in the
neighborhood of $S00
per -month on welfare.
They cut him back to
$400, so now he just
lives of the street. In his.
estimation, within the
last six months he had
probably looked Into, or
ransacked through, about
1,000 vehicles. He sup-
plemented his income
through loose change,
and stuff that people
leave in unlocked cars,"
said Burgess.
It appears Portt, who
also goes by several.
other aliases, drifted into
Lucknow recently and
has some friend there,
Burgess said.
