The first meeting of the Lucknow.
School Community Advisory Council
for the schtel year was held on Sept. 9.
During the summer months Andy
Sande, Janet Wright and Joan Black
prepared.a draft constitution for the
school council. Members read and dis-
cussed the. draft. Revisions will be
completed prior to the next meeting.
Tim, Burkett provided each member.
with a pamphlet, on the Bruce County
Board of Education Strategic 'Plan. He
explained that the strategic plan.isused
as.a guideline by local schools in the
county when they prepare their goals
for the school year. The Lucknow
teachers met on Sept. 27 to discuss the
plan for this school. The plan will be
shared with the SCA( members at the
'October meeting so the council will
have an opportunity for input before the
plan is sent to the Board of Education.
In October the SCAC members will
also be reviewing the School Code of
Behavior. Parents who were involved in
the development of the original School
Code of Behavior have been invited to
share their ideas and suggestions.
The Itembers have decided to write
to the Board of Education suggesting
that the Beard use clear language prin-
ciples when preparing any written
material for parents. It is important for
parents to understand information that.
-is sent home.
A coitern from one of the parents
regarding environmental issues such as
roof tarring and painting during the
time that students are at school Was
relayed to the SCAC.
There was a discussion around pizza
days. Some parents wonder if it would
be possible for students to buy tickets
. for pizza so that students wouldn't have
to remember to Wing pizza money each
week. No decision was made.
Mr. Burkett indicated that the school
plans to sell magazines- as a fundraiser.
The band will be selling spices to raise
money -this fall.
The next meeting is Oct. 7, 7 p.in. at
the school: Any parent is welcome to
attend.
