Dairy farmers
help Saguenay
flood victims
Canadian dairy farm-
ers* across the country
will extend a' helping
hand. to Quebec's
Saguenay region by
donating $100,000 worth
of dairy products. to those
affected by recent floods.
.The assistance is being
provided . through .the
Canadian Dairy
Commission to the St.
Vincent de Paul Society,
one. of the key relief
Organizations involved in
the area,: and ' should bei
underway in the coning
weeks.
The proposal received
unanimous support from
the nine provinces which..
make up. the Canadian
Milk Supply
Management Committee
(CMSMC) during the—
Ally 24 - 25 meeting of
this Committee in
Ottawa. -
"All Canadians can
sympathize with the loss-

tims," said Gilles
Pregent, Chairman of the
Canadian s, Dairy
Commission. "Dairy pro-
ducers hope their contri-
bution will help people
get back on their feet and
alleviate the tragedy
somewhat."
The CMSMC oversees

National Milk Marketing
Plan, the federal -provin-
cial agreement which
governs milk supply
management in Canada.
Chaired by the Canadian.

CMSMC has representa-
tion from the producers
and governments of
every province except
Newfoundland.

This Friday, local . volunteers will be selling glads
in the community. It is part of an annual cross-
Carada effort that takes place.every August to raise
research funds for, and public awareness about,
epilepsy.
The fund-raiser is called "Glad Days" and it is a
special event which helps bring better days for peo-
ple affected by this disorder. You can play an impor-
tant role by •purchasing these flowers. They will not
only brighten your home but, more importantly, the
funds raised will help brighten the lives of those
who have epilepsy?
Glad . Days will be held this Friday, Aug. 9, start-
