Local athletes participate in triathlon for charity Seven local ath'retes participated in the Dick Kloss Grand - Bend Triathlon on July 20th. The, triathlon for "Jesse's Journey" was to be a 'swim, bike and run. Due to high 'waves the swim was deleted. The event had six groups, Midget A - ` 9 - 10 years, Midget B - 8 years and under, Junior A 13 - 14 years, Junior B 11 - 12 years, Senior A - 17 18 years and Senior B - 15 years - 16 years: The, seven local partic- ipants were Hamish and Nigel Black, James Mann, B.J. and Tasha Mayer and Stephanie and Blair Morrison. • All athletes placed well in their first ever" triathlon, finishingin the top 20 in their categories. Playing Dashwoodlast Tuesday, July 16 in their final home game of the season, Dashwood took the Reds by a score of 15 6. The first and third innings were the team's downfall as the visitors racked up six runs, first and five in the third to secure the win. Dashwood's defense and pitching held the Reds to. six :runs on five hits; no errors, and strik- ing out four. Meanwhile Reds defense committed two errors at crucial times, letting Dashwood continue an inning. Lucknow pitchers allowed 15 runs on 11 walks, five . hits and struck out six batters.
