A minute silence . was observed in memory of the departed especially Helen (Courtney) Riegling who passed away on June 13. A special welcome was given to two new lit- tle ones - Rebecca (Becca) Sue Judge, born September 15, 1995 to Tim and Dawn Judge and to David Gil Courtney, born September 9, 1995 to Eric and Anna Courtney. Relatives attended from .Michigan; Burlington, London, Godefich, Lucknow, Dungannon and Blyth and enjoyed games and reminiscing. folrowing afternoon activities .everyone was entertained by Gary and .Chris Courtney at their home. John Deere enthusiasts from this area attended the fourth annual Johnny Popper Show sponsored by the Upper Canada two Cylinder Club held at the Drayton fair grounds on July 19,20and 21. This is one of the largest displays of antique two cylinder John Deere tractors and equipment in Canada. .. Dana Joy, daughter of Diane and Rick Park and Murray Curran, son of Grant and Sandra, were married at Dungannon United Church on Saturday with Rev. Alex McGilvery performing the ceremony, The, bridal couple were esc+ted throughout the Village, in a Surrey with a fringe on top, dri- ven by Bob McNeil. The couple were sur- prised and -their family Mark and Rebecca and Marie a past exchange student, from Mexico. Winnifred Percy accom- panied them. Others pre- sent were: Doug and Marilyn Lapp and Jessie Lapp of Wingham. Winnifred and the Bertrands spent the weekend with Bill and Brian Percy. Some from here t attended the pork barbe- cue at Claude Dore's camp organized by Allan Miller. This .was the last Sunday for Don and Mary Vair to be with the Presbyterian congrega- tion. Next Sunday, ser- vice will be withdrawn and Rev. Steve Lindsay will be back on August 4th after his vacation. The Anglican congre- gation were happy t have Pat Palmer spear on his•ltrip to the Holy Land. His father Reverend Jaynes Palmer. was the minister here a number of years ago and it was a homecoming for him tocome back and meet friends. During the years they have attended services here many times, as they have a summer home at Lochalsh where they spend weekends and extra times. On Sunday, July 21, 74 members attended the 26th annual Haldenby reunion held at the Haldenby homestead in Westford. After a time of socializing, both' the young and theold took part in a number of fun 'games. Later on in the day, everyone enjoyed. the bountiful lunch. A new slate of office *as chosen for next year's reunion which is held at the same place on the third Sunday in July. REDUCE RECYCLE T h e newly weds are resid- ing on the home farm at R.R. 1, Dungannon. Parents Grant and Sandra Curran have taken up residence in Goderich. Four Point Summer Schedule is in effect at the Union Pastoral Charge, with Rev. Alex McGilvery conducting service at the regular time at Donnybrook and, Dungannon Churches. Locally baskets of, fresh summery flowers graced the Sanctuary from the Curran/Park wedding. Upcoming on Friday evening July 26 is the outdoor dance with a Hawaiian theme. Attaining suc- cess were Jane Glousher, Dorothy Cuyler, Joan Robinson, Stuart Chamney and Harold Johnstone. Lloyd Henderson, Husband for 53 years of the former Audrey Campbell, passed away. in Windsor on June 30. He leaves to mourn his wife Audrey, daugh- ters Adrice • artdygLil las, - sister Eileen Wraith, Goderich and brother Ivan Henderson, Weston. Friends attending the July 4, funeral were Grant and Lois Farrish, -Anna May MacDougall and Fred ..ward. The Henderson • family farmed for many years on Highway 86 West of Lucknow now known as the Russell Ritchie farm. Exercising causes,your body temperature, to rise as you work your muscles and increase your metab- olism. Body heat must be lowered or your body won't function normally. Fluids lost through evapo- ration of sweat may cause dehydration which can lead to heat related ill- ness. Excessive loss of fluid causes stress to the heart, harms the way our- muscles ur"muscles work and con- tributes to heat illness. -Dress comfortably in lightweight, loose fitting ,natural fibers that breath. -Drink plenty of fluids before, during and after activity. You should drink at least four to eight ounces of fluid every 15 to 30 minutes during activity. Vegetable and fruit juices, water and caf- feine -free carbonated beverages are recom- mended. Avoid excessive alcohol, caffeine and sugar as they will cause further dehydration. - -Drink fluids even if you aren't thirsty. -Limit exposure to heat. Exercising early in the morning or in the late evening. Take baths or showers to cool off. G►UATIGN Lynn Jackson graduated with a B.A. in English from the University of Ottawa. After receiving her Bachelor of .Arts from the University of Guelph Christine married Dave Toop.
