4-H club news
Dairy club learns
judging, measuring
and growth charts
Thea fifth meeting of
the Lucknow Dairy Club
was held4July 9 at Mel
Ritchie's.
We split, into three
groups and rotated to
three stations. The first
station was judging milk-_
ing cows, the second was
measuring calves and
how ";t4 plot the measure..
merits on a growth chart.
The third station was our
guest speaker Matthew
Staehii who taught us
about the live main food
groups for cows - water,
energy, protein, minerals
and vitamins.
The sixth meeting of
the Lucknow Dairy Club
was held July 13 at Doug
and Jean Gaunt's. At this
meeting the members got
to try their hands at
washing, clipping, lead-
ing and showing calves.
Some of us had all the
luck but most of us
didn't, It was a tiring but
fort day.
