illage mill rate
goes up 1 per cent
Village residents will see a slight increase in their
overall mill rate for 1996 taxes.
The general village and county portions remained
the same as last year, with increases by both boards
of education resulting in the slight increase.
A public school supporter will pay one per cent
more and separate school supporters 1.3 per cent
more.
The total mill rate for a residential public school
supporter is 53.535 and for separate school it is
55324.
Following a discussion at the Lucknow council
meeting on July 9, Councillor Rick McMurray agreed
to do a study of income and expenses on recreation to
determinea cost per capita for each of the four
municipalities.
Two quotes were received for paving part of the
parking lot at the sports complex.
The quote of Kempton Construction for $4601 was
accepted, with the gravel on site to be deducted from
that cost. Councillor Rick McMurray said the paving
will take in the entrance area off" the main street and a
small portion in front "more or less to keep the dust
out of the arena." The quote ' also includes proper
drainage for the area.
Arrangements will, be made with Gary Austin,
town foreman, for scheduling and specifications.
Council also accepted a quote for pavement mark-
ing from: Dave's Pavement Marking to be done once
the final coat of pavement is applied. The total is
$1650 for layout, line painting and two crosswalks.
