Landfill -decision
expected by the
end of September
Some county consul-
tants are down in the
dumps these days.
Waste Management
Master Plan co-ordinator'
Craig Metzger was . on
hand Thursday to update
the council on the 'study
of municipal landfill sites
in the area.
Metzger ,said 'the
county consultants are
currently meeting on-site
with the consultants of
each municipality to
gather the information
they need to determine
the maximum potential
of each landfill site in the
county.
He said site visits
should be completed by
tomorrow and workshops
to study the information
are scheduled for July 17
and • Aug. 22.
"Everything is still on
track for a decision
(regarding waste man-
agement alternatives) by
the end of September,",,
he said.
He added that once
that decision ismade,
depending on the out-
come of the consultant's
findings, the A3 site in
Ashfield will be official-
ly dropped.
Court. Mason Bailey
of Blyth restated his
objection to the study
and wanted it noted that
the Blyth-Hullett landfill
board is not in favour eof
the county take over of
landfill sites.,
