(Livingston photo) Many reasons for taking part in Senior Games Tack Tufford said he didn't do very well at the Senior Games. But then. again he didn'tcome to win- - he and his wife Vida came. for the friend- ' ship. • - • "When you become, a senior' you have to slow down a -bit. You can't win everything," the 74- year-old`.TCincairdine man joked, Amelia Duncan of Olden Sound sand .she.. comes because she loves sports. The woman, . who has been connpeting in the games .for: about five years, said it's great to see friends whom she's met at previous games. Making new friend- ships and ' renewing old ones seemed common among the hundreds . of seniors that took part in the district games held in Walkerton Tuesday through Thursday this past week. Bruce -Grey District 27 , Games' chairman -Joe Rys said he enjoyed the friendship of thegames: too, adding that seniors are exceptional `people. "Once they decide to do something, they do it . . , they have the -dedica- tion and "the time,' kys said. He said the games ran smoothly and people. fr9m variousareas com mented on how well events were co-ordinated. This. was the first year Rys was involved with the games and credits a host of volunteers for .the successful' outcome. He said as many as 300 pea, Ole helped put the events together' ;and a core com- mittee of 24 people met for :more th a year to Y get ready. "The. . committee. worked well together. It's one of the's one of the • besI have ever been involved with," he said. The one downside was that Rys would have liked to have seen more Walkerton participants. "Someh-ow there should be more active .4articipation at the ideal level. Hopefully this was a spur to get others involved in the years to come," he said, adding he thinks the number of athletes will grow in the next few years. " Rys said he'll stay involved . at the local level next year and hopes to be a participant too. The following is a list of the local winners.
