square feet of space for a
clinic, with rent being
paid by interest received
on $1.9 million the hos-
pital currently has in term

It has been announced
that Dr. Greg "Antoniadis
will take over the prac-
dee of Dr Peter Long on
Aug. 1, However, the,
hospital still hopes to
attract at least two more
physicians, preferably
:one of whom would be a
woman with experience
in obstetrics and gynecol-
ogy.
In answer to a ques-
tion from McBride about

Wingharn, Lloyd Koch,
hospital executive direc-
tor, said a recruiting firm
has been engaged to
spearhead the search.

offices currently opera-
ing in Lucknow and
Teeswater if a group
practice is formed and a
Wingham clinic opened.
Koch reiilied that while
the doctors have agreed
to look at forming a
group practice, it has not
•yet been fomied.
"Coverage in the sur-
rounding area is strategi-
cally important," Koch
said, but added that the
Wingham clinic could be
of assistance with
resource booking, billing
and vacation coverage. ,

Gnay returns
to head the
hospital board

Noreen Gnay has been returned as chairman of
•the board of governors at Wingharn and District
Hospital and George Underwood will continue as
vioe chairman.
The positions were filled at the inaugural meeting
of the board following last Thursday evening's
annual meeting. • • •
• Three new members were added to the board at
the annual meeting and include., Verna Steffler and
Ivan Metcalfe, representing the Town of Wingham
and John Stafford of Howick, director -at -large. '
Julie Deans, Wayne Tessier and Doug Fortune all
have retired,front the hospital board.
Underwood will be chairman of the board's exec-
utive committee and other members include'Mary
Lou Cameron, John MacDonald, Bob Pike, Donna
Moffat and Dr. Brian Hanlon.
Also sitting on the hospital board for another
term are: Marie. McIntosh, Chris Dickson, Bruce
,Hahn, Wingham Mayor Don Carter, Dr., Michael
Shubat, Helen Rintoul and Margaret MacLeod.
Gordon Baxter is hospital treasurer and Lloyd Koch,
executive director, is secretary.
Foundation
A °question was asked about the function of the
hospital foundation at the recent Wingham and
District Rosptial annual meeting,
Rollie Kaufman of Wingham, foundation chair-
man, said it is a separate entity whose function is to
receive and invest funds for the hospital and devise
ways of producing money for the hospital for equip-
ment and 'capital projects
• Kaufman said the foundation has "close to $1
million"
Clayton Baird asked if a financial statement for
the foundation is available: Kaufman replied that the
foundation reports to the directors and its own mem-
bers. •
• At the conclusion of the meeting, McBride sum-
marized the concern of local citizens about the hos-
• pital. -
•
"The attendance here indicates there is a tremen-
dous concern for the hospital and the physician situ-
tion...1 can't speak for everybody in this room, but
1 think that replacing one doctor is fine, but we still
need more doctors."
