Oh, that tunnel vision
Tunnel vision seems to be one of
. Those curseshumans 'are «. s l rete.I with.
Mime vision can be found Ira people
who live ha the country, in rural or city
areas. Tunnel vnsii i lets urs see only
what is straight ahe:,d, the norrmrn or a
more. narrow view.., Take a city person
into the country and they may be more
appreciative of what those lin the co n -
try fail to see tlymore. Take a cuntry
perst•>n to the city .. °;d their
tunnel visnsn may widen to
see the more psitve
aspects of city life 'that
have become , burden to
those who live there.

people at the teff cial .open-
ing of the Greenway
Project and Lucknow Walk last week
got me to thinking about this topic.
Do we in this community realize and
truly appreciate what we have? Are we
proud of ur community and what we
have to offer, or has our vision nar-
rowed so much that we don't really ;see
the fringe benefits we derive?
Every once in a while it pays to.step
back, take off the blinders • and look out-
side the tunnel. We may be "surprised at
what we see,'
Covering the opening as week, II
felt a sense of prude in mei cbers of this
community wworked so hard over
the hast six ye.. rsst complete the
Greenway project. As so many said, it
did tse a lot f co •>peratio i, but as
sual people banned together for the
better of the conimunity and our envi-
rons.
Congratulations to all who were
involved. You have, made this a better
place to live, and added an element that
will be enjoyed by future generations.
This is another little piece of our his-
tory, and years down the road there is
no doubt in my mind a recap of the• his-
tory of our village will be published for
some reunion. And in that book will be
a section narrating how the Lucknow
Walk came to be.

Parthian shot _ some-

were fine horsemen, and

then turn on the pursuing
enemy and overwhelm
them with volleys of
arrows, which they
would loose by turning
round in their saddles.

Daniel had a great time talking to to the animals and feeding them.

hone service cut - For a couple of days this
week Lucknow was practically without a tele-
phone service. A ditching machine cutting a
trench for street -drainage tile along the north side of
Campbell cur through, the conduit containing all the
telephone wires leading from the central office, on the
north side to the pole line on the south side. Soon -ail
the town knew that someone had blundered. The men
operating the machine, or course, didn'tknow that
the cable was there.
It was no small job to connect up some 500 wires
in pairs of two-nand-tw .
First band concert -. Lucknow Citizen's Brass Band
gave its first open-air concert of the season on
Saturday night. A large crowd was well entertained.

Farmers jeer politicians - More than 900 angry
Ontario farmers, including many from Huron
and Bruce, gathered in Toronto on Thursday to
jeer and call down federal and prvincial government
ministers when they would not.commit themselves to
prgrams to protect agriculture from high interest
rates and low production returns.
Though other issues such as foreign ownership
were touched upon, staggering interest rates and
inequitable returns on production remainedthe main
issues of the dispute.
