Gainingfirst-hand p -
by Phil Payne
After hearing nothing
but positive comments
by my friends on their
co-op experiences, 1
decided to register for
co-op this. year.
Unfortunately, with the
new semester system,. 1
had to wait until
Febniary for my chalice.
My placement is at the
Wingharn Advance
-
Times. I've always
enjoyed reading and wit.-
ing and the Advance-
MVOS is providing me
with first-hand experi,
once in the field of jour-
nalism. My supervi,sor,
Cameron Wood is teach-
ing me the ropes of
jodr-
nalism and how to use
the computer programs'in
the office. find it mire
and and more interesting
everyday,
At this time, 1 am
wp.rking on my first
major assignment Of
course I'm nervous,
because 1 make a lot of
mistakes bot 1 hope 1 at
learn from those mistakes
below the printing dead-
line.
The co-op program is
better than any in -school
subject by far. It replaces
the lecture and note-mak-

silidelit should be a part
of the co-op program so
that they can get a feel of
