There are,now 51 offi-
cers patrolling Lucknow.
They aren't new OPP
officers, just part, of an
amalgamated Walkerton
and Kincardine detachment.
OPP Staff Sergeant Al
Neville, formerly of• the
Kincardine detachment,
became the Area
Commander of both the,
Kincardine and Walkerton
•OPP in November.
Be replaces the
Walkerton staff sergeant,
Terry Nicholls, who was
transferred -tote OPP head-
quarters in ,Orillia. •
As of Jan. 6,, the two
detachments have amalga-
mated their schedules. ,
Walkerton OPP used to
patrol for 20 hours with
officers on 10 -hour shifts.
Between 3 a.m. and 7
a.m., there were- no officers
on pasrol unless necessary.
With the amalgamated
schedule, both Kincardine
and Walkerton area roads
are patrolled 24 -hours.

The Lucknow Lancers have received 45 replies to invi-
tations sent out to aluimii members of that team to partici-
pate in a fun game this Friday night.
Ken Irwin said about 70 invites were mailed. "The
response has been good," sayilrwin. 'Right no* it looks
like the present day Lancers won't have to suit up to com-
plete teams."
Four teams will play games: one at 7:00 and the .other
at 8:30 p.m, at the Lucialow and 'District Sports Complex.
"These are 'seasoned' players. who will return for this
fund-raising • venture," said Irwin.. "There. will be no body
contact and no slap Shots.'
When asked by the reporter if oxygen would be on
hand, Irwin replied, couldn't get them to hard pipe it in.
Tey'll have to come as they are and give what they've
got." , .
Players from the Sepoy days (prior to Lancers) will
participate in the fun evening as Well. •

Police confiscated an assortment of
drugs, drug paraphernalia and weapons
after an early. morning raid of five resi-
dences last week:" • • -
Police announced it a press conference
in Hanover this past week they also execut-
ed arrest warrants for 22 people, on charges
including: conspiracy to traffic cocaine,
methamphetamine (speed), andmarijuana;..
possession for the purpose of trafficking
..and cultivating; and unsafe Storage of
firearms.
The 13 -month .dragnet leading up to the
raids was headed by the Sarnia detachment
of the RCMP, with assistance from
Walkerton, Hanover and Sarnia Pollee ser-
vices, and Members of :the OPP Western
Region Crime 'Unit, the Canine Unit and
London-based Tactical Rescue Unit (TRU)

The 444.gfiCers, including three three from
Walkerton,- seized as evidence one-quarter
• pound of marijuana valued at $700, one
pound of hash valued at about .$9,006,
four firearms, 24 Vials of steroids, $1,600,
• cash, and a hydroponics .system; "believed
to support approximately 400 Plants." said:

One of the search warrants was executed
at a Kinloss Township home. A 30 -year-old
male and a 23 year-old female, were both
charged with conspiracy to trafficin,
methainplietainine, conspiracy to triffie, in
•cocaine, and conspiracy to traffic in mari-
juana. The male is additionally charged •
with cultivating marijuana. "

The street value of drugs in the seizure
was "very, very minimal for the duration of
the investigation. It was 13 months,"
Walkerton Police Chief Burrell Gaffing told
the police services board just hours after a
press conference-. "But a lot of heavy drug
players were charged with conspiracy." •
"The key players were from Walkerton.
They were the ones supplying drugs to the
Sarnia area," said Galling.
"The seizure was small, but the impact
was enormous," he added. Walkerton offi-
cers] "did a good job."
A sixth search Warrant was issued after
the press conference, this time at a home in
Kincardine. Suspected drugs were seized,
said Kincardine OPP Const. Andy Burgess,.
Corp. 'Blake Oiberson, of Sarnia RCMP,
said the investigation started in Sarnia in
January, 1995, the result of legal phone
taps. The investigation led police to this
area. Ele expects futnre charges will be laid
in another region •
Brown said, believe it maybe plugged
a hole in the dike for a period of time but
we haven't stopped the trafficking."
