William 'Edward Brophy,. BA,.
M.Ed. passed' away on Dec,
23, 1995, at the Kitchener
Waterloo Hospital, in" his 69th
year, Mrs Brophy, a resident of
Kitchener and St. Augustine.,
was a°retbred” teacher. He was
born in Calgary. 'Alberta, on
Feb. 1, 1927 to George and
Veronica (McGlone) .Brophy.
Mr,: Brophy's early teaching
years included elementary and
high schools in Wingham, St.
Augustine, Guelph, -Hamilton
and 'Toronto. He was a Master
at Toronto Teachers College
for many yeears. During the last
few years, Mr. Brophy taught
for the Waterloo Separate
School Board and School for
Visually Handicapped' in
Brantford.. ;He is survived by'•his..
wife Geraldine (Gibbons) of
Kitchener three sisters, Ursula
Robitaiile of ,Boston: USA,
Agnes . Brophy of Boston, and
Sister Mary Edna Brophy of
Maryknowll Convent, Hong
Kong; several _ nieces and
nephews. Mr. Brophy was pre:
deceased by his parents, a sis-
ter Mary Ada Brophy, and a
brother Joseph .Brophy.
Visitation was at . the
MacKenzie and McCreath
Funeral Home on Dec. 26 with
the funeral Mass from the St.
Augustine Roman Catholic
Church, where Mr. Brophy was
a \member, on Dec. 27, at 11,
a.m. Father P. Sheridan was
the officiant. Pallbearers . were
Cyril Boyle, Bernard Boyle,
Frank Foran, George Brophy,
Ken teddy and Louis Gibbons.
