Joe and Dean Agneyv o Agnew jewellery, Gift & Children's Wear extend their wishes for a Christmas, a time to 'refiect with Go'd 4 As Christmas approaches my thoughts ern to the magnificent gift we were givea by God Jesus Christ Thinking about this gift from and of God cabs my attention to the indifference and callousness in the world around us. The attitudes of indifference and callowness take many forms. They are sanely present in the oFen co:•rfIikt between father and soar, and daughter and mother in both family tensions and, warring nation., `fhey sear their ugly heads in governments and industries, small and large, by defying God's charge to the human rave in protecting the environment. Daily a reckless abaadanment toward our national and intonational des goes oli while we sit and watch. This social cancer is responsible for injustice towards our fellow 'human beings. Abuse of children and spouses, .which by the way increase during this Holy time; disregard. for the homeless and the abandoned; n rginalizatien of entire sectors f our population, seems to be the way of life. I realize that the attitudes of indifference and callousness take place' all year long but during this setaon my sensitivities are heightened. In humility and in impoverishment the King of Kings came into our 'midst to remove indifference and callousness front the hearts of all humans , men and women, old and young. He' came to reser "Peace on earth and goodwill towards men". The peace He came to restore was the relationship that should and must Oa between Hun *Wall people, The meaning of Christmas has nothing to do with trees: lights, gifts and turkey dinners. It has to do withthevery essence of life. Life which can only be found in one's complete dependence on God the Father in Heaven through His Son. When'• . we have attained this dependence in our livessand in •the lives of our family members then the' trees, lights,: gifts and turkey dinners become meaningful. So, in the, confusion and: commotion that is generally foundat this time of year , why not just stop and • spend time with God reflecting on the indifference and callousness that rs, "going on around us. Why not stop and gather your family together daily and spend time getting • reacquainted with life as given to us in Jesus Christ. Why not stop and put the "Reason fol. the Season" before the attitudes of indifference. and callousness. • The Reverend 'David L.
