Women's House needs
help in fundraising

In five years of existence the
Women's House of Bruce County
has never been able to iaise 20
percent of its operating costs, said
the executive director of the
womea's Shelter on Thursday.
"We cover such a vast irea of
small towns it's very difficult to
Amdraise," said Susan Woodhouse,
executive director of Women's
House. 'Ike local community of

to get out to all of Bruce County is
very diffieult,"
The provincial social services
ministry provides 80 per cent of the
operating expenses of the Women's
House but the group has been
unable to raise 20 per cent of its
budget.

$277 came from a 50-50 draw by
the OPSEU course students and
donated in the name of CAW
complex employees. The winner of
the 50-50 draw, Dennis Parker,
'donated his winnings of $277 to
Women's House as. well. —

well known physician and surgeon.

DiStrict. Hospital. Daisy was an
active member In the Anglican
Parish of St. Paul% the Horticul-
tural Society, Business Women'S
Association and main street "coffee
clubs". She lived in Wingham for
46 years.
Mrs. Connell celebrated quietly
with daughters Margaret and Mary
Lu, son Bill and daughter-in-law,
Pat, niece Mary Ann Cleland-Nellis,
some of her nine grandchildren and
10 great grandchildren and a few
Elliott'' in Guelph, where she enjoys "s•
relatively good health and maintains
and nurtures her wonderful sense of
'humour. •
