Princess Margreit and Veterans
Affairs Minister •Gerald Mer-
rithew took • the salute as
thousands of Canadian veterans
marched by interspersed with,
more than 200 Second World
War vehicles and numerous
bands.
With medals flashing in bright
sunii.ght, the veterans marched to
the band music of their youth,
heads held high and shoulders
'back, as if they were 18 again,
but now in their late 60's and
70's and some in their 80's and
most in step. •
The Dutch people continued to
amaze the Canadians as bou-
quets qf flowers were tossed
throughout the four hour parade
and the hot temperatures never
dulled the smiles and sparkling
eyes of the veterans as applause
never stopped and many called
back to the Dutch people "thank
you Holland".
The official ceremonies at the
„Canadian War Cemeteries at
Woken, GrOesbeek and Bergen
Op Zoom were ,filled with
memories of these long 45 years
since comrades died. At Holten
some 500 children placed
flowers on the graves of .1,35$

IIRII Princess Margreit placed
}lowers at the Alter of Sacrifice

Canadians buried there.
At the stnaller Bergen Op
Zoom ceremony, Veterans Affairs
Minister Merrithew paidtribute
to the 968 Canadians who fell

many this will be their last visit

• Meet the blue box man
• from page -I
going to call ourselves a waste
management firm we'd better
start managing waste," said
Ludolph.
A special bee -planting took
place to honour Ludolph in 'his
home town of Kitchener. The
success of the blue box was in
•pan due to peer pressure. said
Ludolphe Even the homeowner•
who thought itcycrmg was a lot
of bunk "Couldn't stand the idea
he wasn't like his neighbour."
The blue box also eliminated
confusion between what was
garbage and what were
recyclable&
"When you look down the
streets and see the rows of blue
boxes you know there is a
recycling system in place."
