CN Signals
The CN line from Hanover to
"Owen Sound hasn't officially been
abandoned, but Bruce County, wants
to pull out signal tights along the
route. - .
Highways,committee chairman
Cann Fullerton says it costs the
courtly: -$36,000: a year to maintain
signal lights at crossings in the
Hanover - Chesley - Tara area.
Since there have teen no trains for
about two years, Fullerton wants
National Transportation Agency
approval to remove the signals so
the county can save on those main-
tenance
aintenance costs.
CN applied three years ago to
close the Owen Sound line, but was
oriered to keep it open until 1991.
-"It should work but it seems they
(CN) don't want it to," Fullerton
said of the line. He added if trains
were put back in service, the sig-
nals
ignals could be returned to operation
and the county, would continue
paying its share of the maintenance
costs.
