The weed is becoming a serious problem in Southern Ontario, where it can dry out wot areas and crowd out native plants. CN Signals The CN line from Hanover to "Owen Sound hasn't officially been abandoned, but Bruce County, wants to pull out signal tights along the route. - . Highways,committee chairman Cann Fullerton says it costs the courtly: -$36,000: a year to maintain signal lights at crossings in the Hanover - Chesley - Tara area. Since there have teen no trains for about two years, Fullerton wants National Transportation Agency approval to remove the signals so the county can save on those main- tenance aintenance costs. CN applied three years ago to close the Owen Sound line, but was oriered to keep it open until 1991. -"It should work but it seems they (CN) don't want it to," Fullerton said of the line. Fire department report Lucknow and District Fire Department were called out to a motor vehicle accident on October 22. Will Van Niejenhuis of R. 1, Dungannon was Involved in an accident when his car entered a ditch. It was thought the extrication equipment would be needed. Mr. Niejenhtuis had escaped from the vehicle prior to the department arriving. He received minor injuries. The department responded to a call to the farm of Ben Miltenburg, concession 8, Ashfield Township on October 29, where a fire had erupt, e in a corn dryer. Firefighters were on !rte scene close to two hours. Damage is estimated around $2,000.
